BORN TO BE Album
The album starts with a banger. “BORN TO BE” is a pre-release track that sets the tone for the whole album. Everything about this song screams ITZY. Between the beat, the dance, and the vocals/rap, this is the most ITZY song to date. I like how the video has cool effects and how it still can focus more on the choreography, like a performance video. This track is striking and addictive. “Born to be, born to be, wild and free, oh oh.” In the bridge of the song, ITZY did their iconic dance break. With many of their songs, they always incorporate a dance break that everyone wants to learn, and this is one of them. “BORN TO BE” is a hype, empowering song that’s gonna be on everyone's mind.
Oh, this is fun! I jammed out while listening to this song. The title track is called “UNTOUCHABLE,” and it’s truly untouchable. This track is full of energy and radiates such confident energy that rubs off on you as you listen. Just from one listen, you instantly get hooked to the chorus, and the choreography is so addictive to watch. They move in sync while still staying true to their own dance styles. It was also amazing to see their signature crown pose at the end of the song. “UNTOUCHABLE” is honestly such an entertaining title track.
The next track on the album is called “Mr. Vampire,” and I enjoyed myself. “Mr. Vampire” was released before the album dropped, and I’ve been obsessed with it ever since. This song has a beat that you can’t forget. Once it starts, you are instantly hooked. This love song is definitely one of my favorites, and of course, you can’t end an ITZY song without the crown.
“Dynamite” is another track that screams ITZY. When this song came on, my first thought was, “This is so ITZY.” “Dynamite” is just like the title says. It’s explosive and hard-hitting. You can’t help but dance when you hear this song. “Dynamite” is a dance song I can see being played at any party. It’s fun and upbeat.
Before the album was released, we got to hear snippets of the solo pieces from all the members. The first solo track is from leader Yeji. “Crown On My Head (YEJI)” is the women empowerment that we love to see. The lyrics are powerful and motivational. It is also always a joy to see Yeji sing, and she came through and ate this song up. “I got a crown on my head. Crown on my head” has been stuck in my head all day and is so exciting to sing.
“Blossom” is the Pop/R&B track we were waiting for and Lia delivered. This English and Korean mix track is chill and showcases Lia’s voices on full display. The track is beautiful and instantly became a favorite of mine just from the first listen. “I call myself a flower.” “Blossom” is soothing, and this beautiful song brings a smile to any listener's face.
Okay, this is another favorite of mine. “Run Away” is an early 2000s-inspired Pop-Punk track that sends goosebumps to your arm. You can’t help but jump around your room while listening to this track. “Run Away” gives off such Avril Lavigne vibes, and I am here for it. I got chills when I heard Ryujin sing. This track really fits her, and it’s a track that everyone is going to remember.
This is so groovy. Everything about this track is graceful. “Mine” fits Chaeryeong perfectly. “Forever mine. Already mine. Not a secret” has been stuck in my head all day long. “Mine” is another favorite of mine. I like the spooky aspect of the video, and I like how her vocals stick out so much. I can’t wait to see the choreography for this song. I just know it’s going to be amazing.
I just love how Pop this track is. It’s bright and colorful. Upbeat and joyful. This concept fits her so much. This uplifting track will motivate any listener. The space theme and joyful message will bring a smile to everyone's face. The song is beautiful and lighthearted. Yuna ate this song.
“Escalator” is such a lively way to end the album. The bass in this song makes you feel like you are front row at a concert. Even though I wouldn’t have thought this would be a final song since I’m used to them being either ballads or slower songs, I like how different this ending is compared to everyone else. “Escalator” is hard-hitting and entertaining. I would love to see this live, I just know it will be fantastic.
ITZY did an amazing job on this album. When I heard that our girlies were having a comeback, I got super excited. I love that each member got to express themselves with their solos and show who they are as singers. BORN TO BE gives off the girl boss energy that empowers any listener. I and other MIDZYs are super excited to see the promotions for this album, and we are excited to see the things they have planned for the future.
