BEWAVE Makes a Splash With Their Single Album Be your Wave

Rookie girl group BEWAVE has made their first comeback with Be your Wave. Released on October 10, the single album includes the title track “Hard to get to you,” its instrumental, and the B-side “Never lose you again.” This small collection of tracks continues BEWAVE’s work with star-studded producing company VENDORS, founded by former HISTORY member Jang Yijeong, who now works as HYBE producer EL CAPITXN. The team is led by fellow HISTORY member Kim Jaeho, who produces under the name Nano.

Getting to Know BEWAVE

BEWAVE consists of Yunseul, Jiun, Lena, Zena, Ain, and Gowoon under GoldDust Entertainment. Survival show watchers may recognize Yunseul as MIXNINE contestant Jung Yeeun and Zena as My Teenage Girl contestant Kim Jiyeon. BEWAVE stands for “Blue Wave,” which compares the group’s various qualities to those of waves. The sextet debuted earlier this year on April 17 with their EP BE;WAVE, which featured the title track “SING !” This hip-hop song was written and composed by EL CAPITXN, YOUHA, Nano, fellow VENDORS member Louis, and Swedish producer Maria Marcus

Other songs on the EP include the B-sides “Blue Wave” and “Shine.” “Blue Wave” leans into a girl crush style with a lot of strong rap. “Shine” remakes the original 2003 song of the same name by first generation girl group Sugar.

“Hard to get to you”

BEWAVE’s first comeback features the title track “Hard to get to you.” This pop rock song was written and composed by EL CAPITXN, YOUHA, Nano, polar, and fellow VENDORS producers Kyaku and  Coll!n. “Hard to get to you” hides a heartbreaking message underneath its upbeat instrumental, depicting a broken relationship in its lyrics. In the pre-chorus, the speaker pleads, “Don’t say such sad things,” and “Our story hasn’t ended yet.” As the song progresses, they acknowledge the continual difficulty of conveying their thoughts to the person they love.*

The music video uses a school girl concept for nostalgia, leaning into the lyrics’ reflective nature. It presents seemingly joyful moments—riding bikes on a sunny day and having a sleepover—with tough ones like sparring in a match of kumdo, a Korean martial art using bamboo swords. It’s almost like a fight in narrative between the scenes, much like the contrasting lyrics and instrumental.

“Never lose you again”

BEWAVE combines pop rock and jazz in their B-side “Never lose you again.” Written and composed by EL CAPITXN, Nano, Coll!n, Louis, and Revin, this song soothes with its gentle instrumental. Its name looks like a response to the title track, like wanting those sad moments to never happen again.
