Throwback Thursday: The Best Songs For A Laid-Back Day

Have you ever been sitting in the house during a rainy day, wanting to sit back, light a candle, grab a good book, and listen to some music? I know I do. It’s an activity I look forward to. There are so many songs out there that are perfect for this type of environment, and in this throwback Thursday we’ll talk about those bangers exactly.

“I Don’t Know” - SEVENTEEN

On December 5, 2016, Pledis Entertainment mega boy group SEVENTEEN dropped their iconic album, Going Seventeen. This album has a song for every mood and occasion. One song that I believe would be perfect for that laid-back rainy day is, “I Don’t Know.” Though less dramatic of a song there's a groovy beat present.  During the verses, the beat slows down, and the rapper's flow against the beat makes you sway your head. When the chorus comes in the beat picks back up and the vocalist's strong powerful vocals keep the momentum up. It’s a chill song to relax and sing along to.

“Letter” - Jinyoung

On January 18, 2023, GOT7 member and actor Jinyoung, dropped this EP, Chapter 0: WITH. Throughout this EP we got to hear Jinyoung’s beautiful vocals. One of the songs on the EP that stood out to me is, “Letter.” I can’t count how many times I have laid back on my bed, wearing my headphones, and just staring at the ceiling while this song played. This beautiful ballad will bring a tear to your eye. With most ballads, you would expect belts, and high notes, but Jinyoung took another approach with this song. His vocals are calming, and carry so much emotion that it makes many break down from a single note. This is the perfect type of music for a rainy day.

“Fairy of Shampoo” - TXT (TOMORROW X TOGETHER)

On May 18, 2020, Big Hit Entertainment/HYBE boy group TXT (TOMORROW X TOGETHER) released what many believe is one of their best albums, The Dream Chapter: ETERNITY EP. There is one song on the EP that is a joy to listen to. “Fairy of Shampoo” is a remake of a song that was released back in 1990 by a group named, Light & Salt. Every time I listen to this song I find myself daydreaming. While lying back on my bed, I can picture a mystical forest, and a sky filled with stars. This jazz track is so relaxing to listen to. The saxophone is calming, and the member's vocals are soft. I love this song and listen to it whenever I need to unwind.
