PURPLE K!SS Makes Headway in Seventh EP

Switching gears from the hip-hop themed “BBB,” PURPLE K!SS rocks a new concept in their latest title track “ON MY BIKE.” Released on October 22, this track leads their seventh EP HEADWAY, which contains five new songs. HEADWAY amps up PURPLE K!SS’s strengths with a mixture of pop and rock tracks.

TRACKLIST:

  1. “Intro : Concrete Jungle”

  2. “ON MY BIKE”

  3. “Sweet Nightmare”

  4. “Encore”

  5. “Light the way”

The Title Track: “ON MY BIKE”

PURPLE K!SS portrays both biker girls and fallen angels in “ON MY BIKE,” which calls for an equally cool backing theme. Luckily, Swedish producers Maria Marcus, Tobias Näslund, and Christian Fast come to their rescue with a rock instrumental. Marcus and Fast joined PURPLE K!SS member Swan, South Korean lyricist Yoon, and South Korean producer Dr.JO to write the lyrics. PURPLE K!SS sings about moving forward in life with unwavering strength.

PURPLE K!SS looks fierce in the music video. The leather jackets, the black angel wings, and the unbothered attitude while riding on motorcycles create an interesting twist on the “girl crush” image. It mixes the group’s original witchy concept with girl crush elements, truly signifying bad girl energy.

Some Rockin’ B-Sides

“Intro : Concrete Jungle” starts off HEADWAY with a pulsating bass kick and some strong chanting. It comes courtesy of producer Kang Jiwon, who writes and composes all of PURPLE K!SS’s intros. For the rest of the B-sides, it seems like PURPLE K!SS took note of rock’s resurgence in popularity: “Sweet Nightmare” and “Light the way,” like the title track, all fall under the rock genre. Goeun helped compose and write “Sweet Nightmare” alongside producer CocoDoobooPapa.

Yuki gets a songwriting credit on the song “Encore,” which takes from the quirky, spooky side of PURPLE K!SS. Using a mixture of pop with stringed instruments and a ticking music box, “Encore” fits well alongside a song like “Nerdy” from 2022. Yuki and Swan also contributed lyrics to “Light the way,” a rock ballad that closes out the EP.
