Spend “The Last Christmas” With Artists From ONE HUNDRED Label
Artists under ONE HUNDRED, a company co-founded by rapper MC MONG, have banded together to create a Christmas carol. Lee Seunggi, TAEMIN, Baekhyun, Chen, Xiumin, Ha Sungwoon, Lee Mujin, BE’O, VIVIZ, and BADVILLAIN released “The Last Christmas” on December 10. Baekhyun, Chen, and Xiumin promote under the company’s sublabel INB100, while the rest promote under another subsidiary: BIG PLANET MADE. ONE HUNDRED acquired The Boyz last week, but they do not appear in the track.
The premise focuses on the idea of spending Christmas together as if the world ends the next day. In the lyrics penned by MC MONG (under his producer name Villain36), Paul Blanco, and BE’O, ONE HUNDRED’s artists tell listeners to cherish time with their loved ones. In its over four-minute runtime, this festive carol blends beautiful harmonies by some of the most popular singers in the industry and rising newcomers.
The music video for “The Last Christmas” visualizes the song’s concept through an impending apocalypse. Lee Seunggi plays a news anchor who rushes off after announcing an asteroid will destroy Earth on Christmas day. Ha Sungwoon and BE’O appear as angels onlooking the frantic actions of citizens. Despite the chaos of the world ending, the 10 artists remain relatively calm as they choose to spend their last day showing love. They stare at the sky in awe at the asteroids lighting up the sky, like how people take comfort in snowflakes falling on Christmas day.
According to ONE HUNDRED chairperson Cha Gawon, the company released this song as a way of giving back to their community. All profits earned through the single will go to the Korean Red Cross. These funds will help “support children with rare and incurable diseases.” Cha said.
