What’s The Kraze: Hallyu Holidays
This week, we asked the team how they bring Korean entertainment into the holidays. Whether it be Christmas music, holiday-themed videos, or any other holiday traditions, read on to check out how The Kraze team celebrates with K-Pop!
Kelly (Co-Editor-in-Chief): I’m not big on Christmas music, but I love making playlists for every season and winter is no exception. My favorites are probably HEIZE’s “First Sight” and, even though it’s new, SEVENTEEN’s “Candy.” They’re both so cozy. Also SEVENTEEN’s “Chilli.” I never would’ve thought the hip-hop team would be the ones to deliver the perfect winter anthem, but here we are.
Winter also always makes me want to rewatch Guardian: The Lonely and Great God. I feel like that’s a no-brainer though.
Jay (Marketing Director): Can’t go wrong with EXO’s winter albums! But I can’t forget how obsessed I was last year with Somi’s ”Ex-Mas” with BIG Naughty.
Roxy (Chief Marketing Officer): I’m actually listening to my Christmas playlist now while cooking for my friends holiday get together tonight! My all-time favorite is Baek A Yeon’s duet with JB in the song “Just because,” tied for second favorite is Urban Zakapa’s “Snowing” and Wendy’s SM station cover of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.”
Kelly: That’s so cute! Also real. Wendy’s voice specifically was like made for Christmas.
Courtney (Writer): It's not Christmas for me without listening to Stray Kids's "Christmas EveL." It's such a fun song that you could listen to any time of the year but it just adds that extra Christmasy feel for when you want to listen to something that's Christmasy but also different.
Cidney (Writer): For me I would have to say GOT7’s “Miracle” and “Confession Song.” Those two songs put me in such a holiday mood. Whether it be an uplifting, happy feeling or that feeling of relaxing by a fire.
Jacob (Writer): I usually listen to a Christmas K-Pop playlist curated by my sister when I decorate a Christmas tree. It's hard to keep up with all the new Christmas songs recently, but I've been exploring SMTOWN's old winter albums (there really should have been one this year because it's been 25 years since the first one was released).
Kelly: What a cute tradition!!
Cidney: Oh and I love to watch when idols do covers of Christmas songs. The recent P1Harmony one is so good. I recommend it to everyone.
Courtney: Not K-Pop but as a K-Hip-Hop Christmas treat - I also love listening to pH-1 and SUMIN's cover of "Let It Snow." It's such a cozy and warm cover and they perfectly blend together. I like his rapping but I really love pH-1's singing vocals and this cover is one that showcases it quite nicely.
