My All-Time Favorite B-Sides Part 2
In part one of “My All-Time Favorite B-Sides” I only scratched the surface of my favorite B-Sides. Today, we are going to talk about some B-sides that I love to groove to and sing regularly.
“KIDDING ME” - ITZY
First things first, I love this album. On April 30, 2021, JYP Entertainment girl group ITZY dropped their hit mini-album, GUESS WHO - EP. While every song is a banger, “KIDDING ME” just resonates with me. The beat is striking and makes you want to bust a move on the dance floor. If you don’t feel empowered after hearing this song, I recommend you start over and listen to it on full blast. I truly believe this song could have been a title track. The addictive chorus, dance break, and final chorus all come together to make an iconic track.
“Let me hear you say” - SEVENTEEN
On September 16, 2019, Pledis Entertainment boy group SEVENTEEN released their album, An Ode. This album is jam-packed with bangers and one of them is “Let me hear you say.” SEVENTEEN is known for their R&B tracks, and this one incorporates that, plus a hard-hitting beat. SEVENTEEN are fantastic performers; in this song, their vocal and rapping skills shine bright. If I could hear this live I think I would be complete. It’s an addictive song, and from the first listen you are going to be hooked.
“Irreplaceable” - NCT Dream
If you are looking for an upbeat love song, “Irreplaceable” is the song for you. On May 10, 2021, SM Entertainment mega boy group NCT sub-unit NCT Dream dropped their first album, Hot Sauce. “Irreplaceable” is a feel-good, go-lucky track that brings a smile to your face. The beautiful love song has all the makings of a title track. There are powerful vocals and powerful rapping present in this song. It’s an undeniable hit.
“Everything (Jongho)” - ATEEZ
On December 1, 2023, KQ Entertainment boy group ATEEZ dropped their recent album, THE WORLD EP. FIN: WILL. This memorable album features unit tracks, and one of them is “Everything” by member Jongho. Have you felt like you were levitating while listening to a song? Well, that’s how I felt while hearing this masterpiece. I wish I could go back and hear this for the first time. His voice is so strong and powerful. You can hear the emotion behind each note, and the belts are breathtaking. I will fold at the sight of a ballad, and when I heard this I couldn’t help but tear up. It’s a beautiful song that everyone needs to hear.
