LIGHTSUM Releases Their Summer Digital Single “POSE!”
10 months after Honey and Spice, LIGHTSUM keeps cool with their summer single “POSE!” Released on August 7, “POSE!” uses hip-hop beats and a simple, cute music video to describe attraction. Sangah, Chowon, Nayoung, Hina, Juhyeon, and Yujeong go for a trendy, subdued dance sound popular among many groups this year. Thanks to a composition by eniac, Chicok, Stella Jones, and Joh!, LIGHTSUM gets a summer bop of their own.
In the song, LIGHTSUM wants to capture the attention of their love interest, someone seemingly already drawn to them. The lyrics, penned by Lee Seuran (이스란), Angdoo Lee (이앵두), Sangah, and danke, compare this person’s sight to a camera. LIGHTSUM tells them to “zoom in” and get a good look.*
The music video shifts between different aspect ratios to imitate a camera’s perspective. It switches between many ratios, including one of a home security camera, one boxed in like a handheld camera’s liquid crystal display (LCD), one vertical view for selfies, and the usual YouTube 16:9 ratio. Through these different displays, the video showcases a summer hangout with friends.
LIGHTSUM enjoys a girls’ night in “POSE!” They do their own makeup, pick out pretty clothes, bake sweet desserts, play card games, and end the day with a sleepover pillow fight. It’s an enjoyable watch full of cozy scenes.
