Key’s “Pleasure Shop”
SHINee’s Key releases his third EP, Pleasure Shop, on his 33rd birthday.
It's been a year since the senior idol’s last album, Good & Great. This new synth and house-infused EP consists of six tracks.
Pleasure Shop - Key - Tracklist:
“Pleasure Shop”
“Overthink”
“Golden”
“I Know”
“Going Up”
“Novacaine”
The title track, “Pleasure Shop,” is a style that suits Key well. The chorus is not as full as his other title tracks, but still resembles some of his earlier work. The sci-fi-themed music video goes well with the lyrics. Key describes himself as a cyborg who sells happiness to people at a “Pleasure Shop.” Just as the lyrics imply, the music video takes place in a shop where Key works. There, he creates and sells bionic contact lenses that make people happy and distort reality. As a cyborg, he can create or take away happiness from his customers as he pleases and not feel any remorse. This concept was inspired by Key’s view on AI from the perspective of an artist.
The synth-pop track “Overthink” was the B-side chosen for music show promotions alongside the title track.
“Golden” is a track about youth and the warmth of a relationship. “I Know,” which is also about relationships, talks about hypnosis and stealing hearts. “Novacaine” is an English-language song produced by American artist Lauv. The song is a product of SM Entertainment’s song camp that brings together producers and lyricists from all over the world.
Key appeared as a guest on Lee Mujin Service, where he sang his new title track “Pleasure Shop,” as well as Conan Gray’s “Memories,” aespa’s “Supernova,” Miley Cyrus’s “Used To Be Young,” and “Get a Guitar” by RIIZE. On the show, he discussed his comeback, career, embarrassing moments, trainee days, Tokyo Dome, and performing.
