Best K-Pop Music Videos of December 2024
Take a look at some of the best work to come out of December 2024.
BEST MUSIC VIDEOS BY A GROUP
As they prepared to make their departure from IST Entertainment, The Boyz released a final song under the company. The video reflects memories from debut to now with clips from over the last seven years they’ve spent together. “Last Kiss” moved fans to tears as this bittersweet moment shows the unwavering closeness of these 11 boys who will be moving onto a new chapter together.
Megan Thee Stallion is no stranger to East Asian collaborations after her hit releases “Mamushi (feat. Yuki Chiba)” and “Neva Play (feat. RM).” This world-renowned American rapper comes together with the sensational South Korean girl group TWICE on their latest track “Strategy.”
TWICE’s style and genre is drastically different from Megan’s, however, Megan's verse brings a new flavor to TWICE’s signature sound. Visually, their aesthetics go well together, with some scenes even being filmed with the 10 of them together.
An asteroid, nine boys, and an ambition to face whatever. CRAVITY takes on a futuristic concept in the video “Now or Never.” The sets used are distinctly different, with each having a unique feel. They all tie into the theme of the video and give the members time to show off the song's choreography.
YOUNITE’s “TASTE” consists largely of camcorder footage. The camera angles and style of the video makes it stand out from the rest.
The video for Stray Kids’s hip-hop concept “Walkin On Water” is not as extravagant as their other videos, but it doesn’t need to be. The song itself carries the weight this comeback, but the music video is still strong. The video stands out with the editing techniques and camera movements used. The video takes on the traditional Korean concept which is commonly used by the group, however, they always find a way to make it unique to the story they’re telling. The on-screen effect of water splashing is a creative way to transition between scenes in a way that relates to the lyrics of the song.
BEST MUSIC VIDEOS BY A SOLO ARTIST
The Korean-Australian solo artist Olivia Marsh welcomed Christmas with her first winter track “First December with You.” The video features an anthropomorphic Christmas tree which she spends the holiday season with.
This song was hard to classify as it consists of both groups and solo artists under ONE HUNDRED. All of these talented artists come together in this Christmas song that makes light of an asteroid hitting Earth on Christmas day. They all remain calm as the world collapses around them, with mass hysteria breaking out. “The Last Christmas” is sure to be nostalgic for anyone missing EXO’s winter albums.
Onew prepares for his new album, his fourth mini-album CONNECTION with this pre-release “만세 (Yay).” If I had to describe this music video in one word it would be “orange.” The video opens with Onew in a bright orange carpeted room, walls and all. He then ventures into an orange tunnel of which there appears to be many of.
The long-awaited Mark and Lee Youngji collab is finally here. “Fraktsiya” opens with bullets raining down from the sky in slow motion. And if Mark pushing the bullets away with a flick of a wrist doesn’t let you know what you’re in store for, I’m not sure what will. The video is very movie-esque with its dark color palette. As if the cinematography of the video alone wasn’t powerful enough, Mark and Youngji’s visuals come together to create a masterpiece on screen.
“Sweet Like” perfectly encompasses Yugyeom’s style as an artist. The video has a laid-back vibe, but energetic dancing scenes.
