Cha Eunwoo Delivers His Own Divine Message in “SATURDAY PREACHER”

Before ASTRO’s Cha Eunwoo enlisted in the South Korean military in July, he left fans with a surprise during his 2025 fan meeting, THE ROYAL. To cap off his final opportunity to meet fans in a while, Eunwoo performed “SATURDAY PREACHER,” the title track of ELSE, a new EP that came out on November 21. The four-track EP was released almost two years after his solo debut in February 2024. Like with his music video for “STAY,” “SATURDAY PREACHER” sees Eunwoo implement his acting while also expanding on his identity as a musician.

  1. “Sweet Papaya”

  2. “SATURDAY PREACHER”

  3. “Selfish”

  4. “Thinkin’ Bout U”

“SATURDAY PREACHER”

The concept for “SATURDAY PREACHER” takes an interesting turn away from its title’s religious connotations. This disco track is far from what most people would traditionally associate with people who deliver sermons. Rather than preaching a distinct message from God, he takes this opportunity to deliver a funky track.

This unexpected take also appears in the music video’s dual concept, where Eunwoo plays two contrasting roles. It follows a regular person transforming into a villain who drains the lives of others. “SATURDAY PREACHER” follows the meaning behind “else”: something different.

While the promotional period for ELSE will not include live stages, fans can look forward to a music video for the B-side “Sweet Papaya” on November 28. “Sweet Papaya” is indeed sweet with a sound that would fit right into ASTRO’s main discography. Eunwoo includes the easy-listening songs “Selfish” and “Thinkin’ Bout U” to make the EP a wholly optimistic-sounding piece of work. He may sing about being “selfish,” but the contents of ELSE seem far from it. Eunwoo prepared plenty of content for fans to consume while waiting for his military discharge, currently slated for January 27, 2027.
