YEONJUN Makes Stellar Return With First EP ‘NO LABELS: PART 01’

After an unforgettable debut last year, TXT (Tomorrow x Together) member YEONJUN is back with his first EP ‘NO LABELS: PART 01.’ It shows to be a stellar EP with six songs that show that angsty side of YEONJUN we know and love.

This EP is a testament to the creativity of YEONJUN. The way the music video promotes three out of the six songs on the EP is a unique approach that we don’t often see in K-Pop. The three songs that were shown in the music video were “Coma,” “Let Me Tell You (feat Daniela Avanzini),” and “Talk to You.” Each song showcases a new sound, but you can hear that rock/synth inspiration that YEONJUN is going for. 

The video starts with the last song on the EP, “Coma.” “Coma” is an electrifying track featuring a striking bassline and a danceable beat. Rapping throughout the song, YEONJUN raps with this more slurred tone. In the verses, you can hear the words flow together, but during the chorus, each word is pronounced and hit with so much force. In the video, you really get to see how danceable this track is. YEONJUN and fellow backup dancers are not only giving their best model poses but also hitting each dance move with so much power. It’s a fun way to start the music video and end the EP. The next song to be played is his track with Daniela from KATSEYE. A track many were anticipating once it was announced, “Let Me Tell You (feat. Daniela Avanzini)” is a groovy R&B track that showcases both YEONJUN and Daniela’s voices. This R&B track not only showcases their vocal tones that merge perfectly, but also highlights their impressive dancing skills. Their partner work is so captivating, and it will have you glued to the screen the moment it starts. The last song in the video is the first song on the EP and his title track “Talk to You.” “Talk to You” is a rock track that showcases YEONJUN’s angst and rocker style, which he does fantastically. With such a strong percussion line, you can hear those rock elements, like a heavy drum presence, guitars being showcased, and deep, raspy vocals. “Talk to You” is such a commanding way to start his EP, and it really draws you in and gets you ready for what is to come next. 

YEONJUN’s EP ‘NO LABELS: PART 01’ is such a good look into YEONJUN as a soloist. With his past release “GGUM” being a more hip-hop themed track, many were expecting music like that to be present, if not the primary genre of the album. However, taking a turn of events, his release shows that he can conquer any genre. So, go and check out YEONJUN’s first EP ‘NO LABELS: PART 01.’
