AMPERS&ONE Brings the “Crazy Stupid Fun” to New York
If the septet AMPERS&ONE hasn’t been on your radar, you’ve been missing out. Kamden, Brian, Jiho, Siyun, Mackiah, Kyrell, and Seungmo of FNC Entertainment proved that they have chops beyond their rookie status at the NY stop of their debut 2025 AMPERS&ONE LIVE TOUR ‘My First _’ in North America! on February 24 at N.Y.’s Queens Theater. With energy barely contained on the theater stage, the guys set out to show why they are the ones that you should be listening to now.
The onslaught of screams began the moment the guys set foot on stage. Their debut song “On & On,” a song encouraging everyone to “get loose,” perfectly set off the night and it was fun to see the energy from ANDEAR, their fandom, feeding AMPERS&ONE. This synergy continued through the night. As the guys worked through their introductory choreo, with clever pointed formations, and lively expressions, it was clear that this was going to be one fun ride. With “Someday,” their expressions to each other stole the show. It was clear that the relationship between the members was solid as they played off the theme of someday being in a relationship with each other. Continuing the lovey vibe was the fun dance track “He+She=We.” Impossible not to bop along to the beat, the “She” here felt more like all the ANDEAR in the room as they sang the lyrics, “feels like love,” to the room.
Breaking into their first ment of the night, they began with introductions. Starting with Seungmo, who broke into a brief “New York,” Alicia Keys style. Yelling out with excitement, “I’m New York’s sexy boy, Seungmo,” each intro brought out the same effusive energy. When it was Kamden’s turn, one of the Boys Planet participants with Brian and Jiho, he couldn’t help dancing and showing off his moves. Kyrell’s, “did you wait a long time for this?” rebounding cheers and he would go on to express that it was the same for them and that it was the fifth stop of their tour. Mackiah went on to give the titles of the first three songs, stating that it was a fitting song as, “it marks our beginning and the beginning of today’s performances.” When Jiho asked Mackiah the next song, a clear “whoo” came shooting out of the audience. With much of the group filled with practically native English speakers, they were able to play off the sound linking it to the “Ooh-ah” in their next song, “Over the Moon.”
“Sheesh” continued with their solid pop dance vibes, but this time with an edge brought out by Kamden rap sections. Dancing full out, they gave their all throughout this set of their performance. Wiping their faces, Mackiah noted that a group of them were going to change for their next stages, while the remainder stayed behind to really help get everyone to know them better.
Kyrell began, stating his preferences of Los Tacos over Joe’s Pizza. Brian’s response will always remain a mystery as it was blocked by his mic’s technical issues. After returning, the trio quickly moved onto their special performance covering TWS’s “plot twist.” When the quad returned in their preppy blazers, they also brought out their homage performance, this time to Tomorrox x Together (TXT)’s “Good Boy Gone Bad.” Kamden, Jiho, Mackiah and Seungmo had the whole room singing and dancing along to the popular hit. Chatting with the crowd, they were a riot. With the team divided, Mackiah described the trio that had gone back as, “the cute group…all the babies of the group,” and to clarify their positions, he went on to state, “we’re not babies, we’re the big boys, we’re the sexy group.” To solidify their stance, he suggested that they all do a “cool sexy pose,” which they kinda tried to pull off to everyone’s amusement. They next described the aegyo pose that Mackiah had made Kamden during his Weekly Idol days which had him pointing to his cheek for “Na,” playing off the Korean meaning “I’m” and making a heart on his other cheek saying “Kamden.”
The cover section had only begun. Showing their range by covering some of the most popular hits stateside and in K-Pop, the guys did the songs justice. Starting with “Blood Sweat & Tears” by BTS, the whole room was singing with this extremely well known hit. The “du du du du’s” of “God’s Menu” by Stray Kids followed. Going east to west, Justin Bieber’s “Sorry” was next in the queue with Jiho, Siyun and Kyrell killing the vocals. With “That’s What I Like” by Bruno Mars, Kamden, Brian, Mackiah and Seungmo looked like they were having a blast playing off their sexy sides. Chatting a bit on how they wanted to personalize the last song a bit by editing “I’ve got a condo in” by changing the lyrics to each city visited, they swapped out “Manhattan” for “New York,” which might have confused some New Yorkers, but did make those in Queens feel a bit more included. Doing one more cover dance to KATSEYE’s “Touch,” Kamden and Mackiah told the story of how Kamden learned the details directly from the ladies and passed them on.
With Siyun, Jiho and Kyrell back in white, they began by telling confessions from borrowing shaving cream or showing gratitude to making members do aegyo poses. Not to be outdone by the prior group, Siyun had the floor screaming with KAI’s “Rover,” Kyrell with BOYNEXTDOOR’s “Nice Guy.” and Jiho dancing to The Boyz, “TRIGGER.” Their moves had the crowd’s volume rising by decibels.
As the rest of the team returned, also in white, it was time for the show to go on with “Broken Heart.” The deeper beats of the track had hips swaying to the heavy rhythm and power rap tracks. The following would be a personal favorite of the night, “Whip it.” The rhythmic swag, sharp choreography had the song going hard, and they killed it.
Entering the last songs of the night with, “Sweet & Sour,” the mood contrasted dramatically while they moved and sang with sweetness and smiles. “Calling You Back,” went before AMPER&ONE took time to share their gratitude and last words before finishing the official show with the inspiring “Fly.” The song showed off their strong vocal skills as their vocals harmonized beautifully throughout the theater space and fans waved their arms in unison with the song.
As expected, the guys returned in concert merch, cute shirts mimicking jerseys that even I felt the need to bring home, and finished off the night starting with a repeat of “He + She = We.” With “Slide” Mackiah explained how they wanted everyone to sing along with them during the chorus. After a few sample times, everyone was ready to go and ANDEAR did not disappoint. The final song pretty much encapsulated the show and the dominant feeling of the night. Just as the title states, the show was simply, “Crazy Stupid Fun,” and I can’t wait for them to return to repeat it.
