LE SSERAFIM Is Back With Laid-Back Fifth Mini-Album, HOT
After an unforgettable EP, our LE SSERAFIM girlies are back with a laid-back mini-album. HOT is a very groovy, chill, and overall fun mini-album. Compared to previous LE SSERAFIM releases, HOT is more on the calmer side but has a whole vibe of its own.

We get the album's vibe from the very beginning of the EP. The first song, “Born Fire,” sets the tone for the laid-back vibe the rest of the mini-album possesses. For example, starting with just plucks from orchestra instruments, like a violin and cello, gives us this more mythical track. Once the members start talking in their respective languages, Japanese, Korean, and English, we start to notice that the girls are telling a story. A beat starts back up, and all that you can imagine is an incredible interpretive dance being done to this. This story sends us to our next song, the title track, “HOT.”
Different from the first track, “HOT” is more upbeat and has a groovy, retro sound to it. Continuing with the love concept from the last song, the girls talk about love in this song and the power that it holds. With lyrics like, “Bonnie and Clyde it, oh,” and “It’s all right, we’re ride or die, yeah,” you can see the girls’ viewpoints on love. The girls sing with a more falsetto vocal tone throughout the song, singing more soulfully and smoothly. The way the girls harmonize in this track will make you feel like you are floating.
The music video is really cool. There is this more eerie feeling when it comes to the music video. The girls are seen in all white, memicing wedding attire. There are scenes in which they are all black, with a black and white background. It’s a gorgeous video that fits the concept of the song.

While listening to the mini-album, you realize that all of the songs are connected. HOT is a story, and “Born Fire,” “HOT,” “Come Over,” “Ash,” and “So Cynical (Badum), add to the plot. I would definitely recommend for everyone to listen to HOT. This sound is something new for LE SSERAFIM, and this sound and concept fit the girl perfectly.
