Throwback Thursday: NCT 127 Edition
After seeing NCT 127 on Sunday, it only felt right to talk about NCT 127 and their stellar discography. For those who don’t know, NCT 127 is a sub-unit of the SM Entertainment mega boy group NCT. With eight members, 127 drops music for all music lovers. Their songs cover all genres, like R&B, pop, electro, and so much more. They are also fantastic performers. So, let’s take it back and talk about some NCT 127 tracks that changed our lives.
“Superhuman” - NCT #127 WE ARE SUPERHUMAN - The 4th Mini Album - EP
On May 23, 2019, NCT 127 dropped a title track that NCTzens worldwide love. “Superhuman” is one of NCT 127’s biggest and well-known tracks. This electro dance track is hype and upbeat. The opening “Yeah” will have you on your feet, ready to sing along. In April 2019, during their first tour, the group performed this track as a treat to NCTzens. The song wasn’t released yet, so it was a sneak peek into the new comeback. Watching this on stage back in 2019 was like watching a movie. The dance is intricate and showcases the true talent that the members have. Each move hits the beat, and they come with so much energy. “Superhuman” is not only fun to watch but also fun to sing along to. “I’m so super, ayy” is screamed at the top of your lungs when this song comes on. It’s a well-loved song, and I am waiting for the day I get to see this live again.
“Simon Says” - NCT #127 Regulate - The 1st Album Repackage
On November 23, 2018, the NCT #127 Regulate - The 1st Album Repackage came out, and, oh my god, this is such a great album. Their incredibly iconic title track is on that album: “Simon Says.” This track is hype, bass-induced, and so much fun. Listening to “Simon Says” is like listening to a rave in your ears. The electro beat will have you on your feet trying to recreate the choreography. “Simon Says” is also very addictive. Once you finish the song, you would instantly want to start it over and listen to it again. While listening, you also can't help but sing along. The way I scream “Simon Says” around the house would make you think I was a part of the group. It is such a great song and showcases the extraordinary talent of 127.
“Whiplash” - NCT #127 CHERRY BOMB - The 3rd Mini Album
The person I became on Sunday when this song started playing is crazy. I sang word for word, bar for bar, along with the members. On June 14, 2017, NCT 127 dropped their EP NCT #127 CHERRY BOMB - The 3rd Mini Album. This mini-album is really good. Each song showcases the versatility of 127. One song that shows the R&B styling of the group is “Whiplash.” This R&B track is a mixture of smooth slow jams, hip-hop, and that signature NEO electric sound. 127 is known for their twist on R&B songs, and “Whiplash” shows precisely that. The crowd's excitement on Sunday proved just how much we love this song. It’s a great track that excites the crowd.
“TOUCH” - NCT 2018 EMPATHY
On March 14, 2018, the entire NCT group came together and dropped a jam-packed, jaw-dropping album showcasing the NCT members' talent. On that album is a unit song from 127. “TOUCH” is a cute, upbeat, joyful track that will make you smile. At the concert, while the energy was already high, the moment we heard that iconic intro to “TOUCH,” you could feel the crowd's energy rise even higher. This track is bright, bubbly, and colorful. Every time the members perform this song, there is a cheerful smile on their faces. The track is straight pop and has those lighthearted vibes that we get from a pop song. Just like the members, “TOUCH” will absolutely make you happy, and you will have fun singing along.
