Throwback Thursday: The Year Is 2017

Do you guys remember 2017? I know I do. I was in the 10th grade, struggling in precalculus, but I distinctly remember the amazing music released that year. 2017 was one of the most monumental years in K-Pop. So many groups released their debut tracks that year, and many groups released unforgettable tracks. So, let’s take it back and talk about some iconic tracks from 2017. 

Sunmi - “Gashina” 

On August 22, 2017, quirky queen Sunmi released her iconic track “Gashina.” This unforgettable song is upbeat and will have you ready to dance the moment it starts. Everything about this track is iconic. The beat is striking, and the moment you hear it, you are instantly doing that iconic finger-pointed choreography. “Gashina” is a track that every K-Pop fan knows. The choreography is one that many people cover and is one of Sunmi’s most well-known songs. It’s a fun track, and if you are trying to get into Sunmi, this is the perfect song to start with. 

NCT 127 - “Cherry Bomb” 

On June 14, 2017, NCT subunit NCT 127 dropped their striking mini-album, NCT #127 CHERRY BOMB - The 3rd Mini Album. The mini-album features their groundbreaking track, “Cherry Bomb.” NCT 127 is known for their experimental music, and “Cherry Bomb” is a prime example of how electronic beats can create an unforgettable track. This rap-heavy track will have you ready to grab the mic and rap along to members Mark and Taeyong’s lines. The lyrics of this song will get stuck in your head the moment you hear it. “I’m the biggest hit. I’m the biggest hit on this stage,” is so much fun to sing, and this will forever be one of NCT 127's most memorable tracks.

TWICE - “Signal” 

“Trying to let you know,” “I must let you know,” that this TWICE song is top-tier. On May 15, 2017, the well-known girl group TWICE released their mini-album Signal - EP, and the title track, “Signal,” is a fun song. This track is one that many know the dance to. The cute signal hand movements on their hands are so much fun to do while listening to this song. You can’t help but feel like you are a part of the group while singing along to this song. It’s cute, dainty, and lighthearted.
