Throwback Thursday: Slow Jam Edition Part 2
I don’t know about anyone else, but I love ballads/slow jams. There is something heavenly about strong vocals and smooth instrumentals that makes many feel like I am floating. Slow jams tend to have a story, a relaxed tempo, and are usually sad more often than not, but they can also be love songs. Ballads/slow jams are magical, and today we are going to take it back and talk about some beautiful ballads.
ATEEZ - “Light”
On January 16, 2019, KQ Entertainment's boy group ATEEZ dropped their first comeback mini-album, TREASURE EP.2: Zero To One. This mini-album is home to many of ATEEZ’s well-known tracks. One of them is their breathtaking ballad “Light.” This track is loved by many ATINYs, and with this being their first comeback, we were shown just how talented the ATEEZ members are. “Light” is just as the title says: bright, lighthearted, and beautiful. The members sing in this calming tone. There aren’t any strong vocals in this song; they are more laid-back, creating a vibe perfect for those chill Sundays.
SEVENTEEN - 247
On September 16, 2019, SEVENTEEN dropped their jam-packed album An Ode. This album includes R&B, EDM, hip-hop, and fun pop. One song that stood out to many Carats is the Performance Unit track “247.” This R&B track has smooth strums of a guitar, snaps, and captivating vocals. The members Jun, Hoshi, The8, and Dino come together and create such a relaxing song that makes you want to chill and sing at the top of your lungs. There is a performance of the song, and the choreography is graceful. Their arms are elongated, their moves are smooth, and being some of the kings of synchronization, the members are completely in sync and look amazing.
SHINee - “Y Si Fuera Ella”
On August 28, 2008, iconic SM Entertainment group SHINee dropped their first album, The SHINee World - The 1st Album. This song is actually so beautiful that you feel like crying. Member Jonghyun truly puts his all into this ballad, and the amount of angst in his voice will make you fall to your knees. We all know what a fantastic vocalist Jonghyun is, and “Y Si Furera Ella” is a perfect example of his talent. This song has Latin influence, and the piano and guitar set the tone for the entire track. While listening to this track, you will lie back and stare at the ceiling or scream at the top of your lungs. This is a track I would recommend to everyone to listen to. It's just breathtaking.
