Best of June 2025

June was a great month of comebacks from our favorite boy groups, girl groups, and soloists. Here are some of my favorites.
“Masterpiece” - ATEEZ
Displayed through the smooth and sophisticated R&B sounds of the appropriately titled B-side “Masterpiece,” ATEEZ present themselves with a mature musical style in their 12th mini-album, GOLDEN HOUR : Part.3. This track carries hints of Bruno Mars wrapped up in notes of nostalgia, with sensual lyrics sung through the octet’s euphonious vocals and rap verses. “Masterpiece” further highlights ATEEZ’s versatility, showing them to have the excellent ability of taking any genre and making it their own, resulting in addictive tracks that ATINY (the boy group's loyal fanbase) can never get enough of.
“Too Close” - ENHYPEN
ENHYPEN deliver immaculate vocals in “Too Close,” the sixth track from their sixth EP, DESIRE: UNLEASH. The track opens with a blissful piano arrangement, immediately followed by a heavenly vocal adlib from Heesung, that sets a stunning tone for what is to follow in the rest of the song. The way in which the members' vocals perfectly match the melody of the backtrack (in the chorus) is one of my favorite things about “Too Close,” with the arrangement also carrying a nursery rhyme feel that feels youthful and sweet. With impressive vocal runs and soft melodious voices, "Too Close" forefronts ENHYPEN as being a group with some of the best vocalists of today's K-Pop scene.
“M.I.A” - KATSEYE
Global girl group KATSEYE came out strong last month with their second EP, Beautiful Chaos. Full of five tracks that display KATSEYE’s distinctive and versatile colours, it is the end track “M.I.A” that captures my attention. The song plays like a powerful and energetic female anthem, joining an ever-growing list from girl groups worldwide and past and present, with its “I'll go MIA / I-I’ma go-go” chorus chant that immediately sticks in your head from the get-go. While a B-side, “M.I.A” is a track that I can imagine to have an incredible accompanying music video, with eye-catching visuals and an intense dance performance that perfectly matches the fierceness of the song.
