An Unforgettable Album

The album starts off lighthearted and full of fun. GOLDEN HOUR: Part. 3 is how we get introduced to the album. With “Lemon Drop” being the first song, you are instantly hype and are transported to your dream summer spot. With an enticing bass, danceable beat, and addictive lyrics, “Lemon Drop” is the perfect song to boost your spirits. “Lemon drop, lemon drop, closer,” “Tequila, tequila sunrise. We’re staying up till sunrise. Lemon drop, lemon drop closer,” you can’t help but sing along. It’s such a fun song, and with the tour already starting, I can only hope to hear this banger live.

This album is home to so many hits. The next track, “Masterpiece,” is truly a masterpiece. This song is a favorite amongst many, including me. This is a track that you can’t help but replay over and over again. With that striking R&B and synth beat mixture, “Masterpiece” is a certified hit. The moment you hear that first “Come on,” you are on your feet singing along. “Take it, take it, take it all, honey. Chank chang it, got me all motivated.”

ATEEZ is known for many things, but one thing that truly stands out is their ability to create songs that bring everyone together. The next track, “Now this house ain’t a home,” is a beautiful track. This track is heartwarming, featuring lyrics that are both profound and thought-provoking. “That piece of me that never left. Has much to see to not regret,” and, “In time, we all get taller. While sometimes feeling smaller.” It’s a great song that will have you in tears.

“Castle” is another one of those songs that will have you swaying along to the beat and just taking in the beautiful vocals of the members. This is a song I can picture being performed, and as you look into the audience, all you can see is a sea of lights swaying. It’s a breathtaking track that will have you on the edge of your seat, grasping for more.

Ending this part of the album is true ATEEZ style; we get an ending with a series of beats. With few lyrics, “Bridge: The Edge of Reality” is an upbeat EDM dance track that is perfect for ending the EP, yet moves us to the next track in this repackage.

The album completely switches vibes the moment the title track starts. “In Your Fantasy” is an upbeat, groovy blast back in time. This track features the early 2000’s synth sound that you would hear in many songs from that era. For example, that synth beat in Justin Timberlake’s “SexyBack (feat. Timbaland)” is similar to the bold synth beat that we hear in “In Your Fantasy.” The members take this beat and create an enjoyable dance track that will have you ready to dance the moment the beat drops. The members sound amazing in this song. Throughout the song, you can pinpoint each member's voice. For example, you can distinctly hear Mingi and Hongjoong's different tones in their bars, Jongho’s belts during the chorus, and Yeosang's deep, raspy voice during the verses. Another thing that stands out in this track is that it is entirely in English, and the lyrics contribute to the sensual vibe of the song. With lyrics like, “Heaven is in your stare,” you are instantly drawn to the lyrics, and the addictive beat has you ready to learn the words. At the end of the album, we get to hear the Korean version of “In Your Fantasy.” It’s always cool when groups do multiple versions of a song in different languages. It’s an excellent opportunity for fans to connect with the song in their respective languages, and sometimes we even get new lyrics.

The music video is very artistic. The color grade of black and red adds to the sensual concept, creating a more sinister vibe to the song. Each member's solo shots are eye-catching. The visuals are stunning, their acting is phenomenal, and the outfits fit each of them perfectly. The choreography at the end of the video is both smooth and captivating. The way they move their arms in sync and smoothly move from spot to spot makes this choreography flow seamlessly. “In Your Fantasy” is a great song and has us ready for more with the rest of the album.

In this album, we get to hear the different personalities of the members with solo tracks. Each song is specific to them and shows their musical taste. Hongjoong is the first member with a solo track. “NO1” is so Hongjoong. With the strong EDM and dubstep, Hongjoong transports us to a rave with his track, and you can’t help but jump around as he raps. Next is member Seonghwa’s track “Skin.” A R&B track with a hint of pop, “Skin,” is a sensual, groovy song with striking falsettos and smooth backing vocals. It’s a really good song with an EDM surprise at the end.

The next solo is “Slide to me” sung by member Yunho. Taking us back to the ‘70s, Yunho gives us a synth-pop dance track that will have you ready to dance along with him. Yunho’s vocals are laid-back with noteworthy falsettos. His smooth, husky voice, mixed with this song, will make you feel like you are in a club in the ‘70s, ready to party. It’s a fun track overall. The next track will prepare you for battle and help you conquer the enemy. “Legacy,” sung by member Yeosang, is a story told through song. The instrumental starts tame, but as we progress through the story, the instruments build up, and Yeosang’s raspy vocals pull you in and have you hooked all the way to the end.

Next is member San’s solo “Creep.” You will be on the edge of your seat with this song. Featuring an electric guitar, drums, and a blend of R&B and alternative rock, “Creep” is an electrifying track. Done entirely in English, San’s tenor tone matches perfectly with the dramatic instrumental work in this song. His voice is breathtaking, and hearing him sing higher notes has you rewinding and listening over and over again. Mingi is next with this commanding and striking solo track, “ROAR.” The moment this started, I was on my feet. This track is heavily hip-hop influenced, with a mixture of electronic elements. Mingi’s flow is phenomenal in this song, and you can’t help but move your head along to the hard-hitting beat.

Next is member Wooyoung with this previously released hit “Sagittarius.” Seeing this banger on the album brought a smile to my face and many ATINYs. This track is a blend of pop, R&B, and a hint of dubstep. Wooyoung’s voice is elegant and flows just like the track does. His vocal tone in “Sagittarius” is smooth and powerful. It’s a great track. Lastly, is member Jongho with his upbeat, feel-good track “To be your light.” For those who love ballads, this is for you (me too). This is one of those tracks you turn on and just lean back and listen with your eyes closed. Jongho’s vocals are strong, and with ease, he switches from falsettos to hearty belts. The drums, piano, and guitar create a lighthearted aura around the song, and you can’t help but smile while listening.
