Have you ever heard a B-side and thought, “Man, this would have been a great title track?” because I know I have. There are so many great B-sides out there that hold so much power that they would have been amazing as the main track of the album. So, let’s take it back and talk some B-sides that would have ate as a title track.

NCT 127 - “Love On The Floor”

On October 25, 2021, NCT 127 dropped their album Favorite - The 3rd Album Repackage. On that album is their sensual, highly recognizable title track, “Favorite.” This album is home to so many great tracks, but one song that tends to stand out and is equally alluring is their track “Love On The Floor.” With a striking bass beat and an electric/techno instrumental, “Love On The Floor” is a captivating, danceable track. The members sound amazing in this song. Their vocals are smooth and almost velvety, drawing you in. This track is so addictive that you can’t help but sing along with the members. Throughout the track, the members harmonize with one another, and the raps are remarkable. It’s a great song, and the live performances of it are outstanding. It's a song that would have been even more amazing with a video.

SEVENTEEN - “SOS (Prod. Marshmello)”

On October 23, 2023, iconic group SEVENTEEN dropped their exciting album SEVENTEEN 11th Mini Album ‘SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN.’ This album is a big ball of happiness and is home to their feel-good track “God of Music.” Before we get to that track, we are introduced to the electrifying B-side “SOS (Prod. Marshmello).” Just as the title of the song says, this track was produced by Western DJ Marshmello. His go-lucky beats are perfect in this song, and the members truly make you feel empowered with this track. The vocals in this song are mighty, and the track is entirely in English. The rasp in their voices creates an angst aura to the track, even though the lyrics are uplifting: “We’re gonna be okay. Our tomorrow is a brighter day,” and “SOSOSO right now. Every day we’re fighting’.” It’s a beautiful song that would have been a great title track.

Red Velvet - “Nightmare”

On November 13, 2023, our spooky queens Red Velvet released their jam-packed album Chill Kill - The 3rd Album. On that album, there is a plethora of songs that showcase the range of the Red Velvet members. Many of them would have been a fantastic title track, but one that stands out in particular is the eerie, dramatic track “Nightmare.” On this song, the girls give us everything we could have asked for. There are smooth vocals, powerful belts, and harmonies that will make you levitate. The way the girls sing this song will make you feel like you are in a dream. During the verses, they sing in a more talking tone, and the instrumental reminds me of a lullaby. It’s a very creative track with a mixture of R&B, EDM, and pop. This song as a title track would have been such an interesting comeback. Sticking to that spooky concept we know and love, this track would have been perfect.
