Yoon Sanha Has Returned With New Mini-Album, CHAMELEON - EP

After an unforgettable debut last year, ASTRO’s Yoon Sanha is back with a fun and addictive mini-album. CHAMELEON - EP is a groovy, danceable EP featuring a diverse range of songs. There are five songs in total, and each is a joy to listen to and perfect for any mood that you can be in.

Taking us back in time, Yoon Sanha gives us an upbeat, cheerful track that’s perfect for the summertime. “EXTRA VIRGIN” is a fun song that uses all of the pop characteristics to make a track for everyone to enjoy. For example, the chorus of this song is addictive. The moment you hear “I got what you need (iconic),” you are instantly ready to sing the rest of the chorus. The beat is also very addictive. The beat is groovy, and in the instrumental, you can hear horns, a snare drum, and a variety of guitars. It’s a beat that will definitely have you on your feet, ready to dance along with Yoon Sanha. Speaking of Yoon Sanha, his voice is so soothing. Even in a more high-energy track, Yoon Sanha’s voice is smooth and carries a cherry aura to it. One aspect that stands out in this song is the incorporation of a choir during certain parts of the track, such as the chorus or bridge. Almost like an echo, the choir sings quieter and fills the background with claps, a tambourine, and runs/belts. It’s a subtle touch that, while faint, still adds to the overall completeness of the song. 

The music video is really cool. Using the title “EXTRA VIRGIN” to full effect, Yoon Sanha can be seen working at a gas station that only sells extra-virgin olive oil. Everything that needs oil will be given olive oil. The music video is also very bright and colorful. Yoon Sanha can be seen wearing bright colors, such as yellow, blue, white, and a red and white checkered print. It is admirable how they show this concept through every detail in the video. For example, the backup dancers are dressed as mechanics, or Yoon Sanha gives the truck a car wash, and when they dance in an empty gas station. It’s the little things like that that make a video. Speaking of dancing, the choreography for this track is lively and full of explosive energy. The arm movements are striking as they sway in the air, and the footwork is intricate. It’s an enjoyable dance that many will try to recreate. 

There is truly a song for everyone. For those who love an upbeat, retro, and overall feel-good track, then songs like “Bad Mosquito,” “EXTRA VIRGIN,” and “6PM (Nobody’s Business)” are perfect for you.
