ENHYPEN’s New Japanese Release Is A Pop-Rock Hit

After a stellar album, ENHYPEN is back with a new Japanese release that showcases their rock side. Their new EP, 宵 -YOI- Single, is a three-track release with a pop-rock inspiration. This release is a huge turnaround from their recent album. 宵 -YOI - Single is a lighthearted mixture of ballads, R&B danceable tracks, and a Japanese remake of a prereleased track.

The first song on the EP is the title track, “Shine On Me.” This pop-rock track is upbeat and carries the traits of a ballad. The moment the track starts, you are instantly teleported to a concert. The track is filled with an arrangement of instruments. The intensity of the drums mixes with the strums of the guitar, and faintly, you can hear the keys of a piano being played. Altogether, it creates a beautiful track with a breathtaking instrumental. Speaking of breathing, the members’ vocals are powerful and carry so much importance. At the very beginning, you are pulled into the track with the first voice you hear. With a soft, light tone, the song starts relaxed, then as the instrumental builds up for the chorus, the vocals build up with it and give us a mighty sound. A part that really stood out is the bridge building up to that final chorus. The way the members sing on every beat. It was like each word landed directly on the beat. The isolated instrumental added a dramatic effect to the song and made it even more sentimental.
The music video is very artistic. In the music video, the members are shown in an anime-style drawing. The style of drawing will remind you of a Webtoon or animated series. The members themselves are also in the video. The video is beautiful. The stars in the sky, the animated butterflies, and the reflection of the moon on the water stand out in the video, and you can’t help but watch in awe. It’s a really good song and shows that the ENHYPEN members can produce greatness no matter the genre.
