[EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW]: So Soobin And How His Voice Will Heal You Going Home

KCON LA 2025 Presented by Olive Young the weekend of August 1 had a diverse lineup this year, and on the roster was an artist that isn’t as widely known stateside, but he should be. With a warm voice that melts your soul, So Soobin showed KCONers his beautiful voice, musical prowess, and even his playful side. He gained momentum though the JTBC Sing Again 3 survival show, finishing in second place, and then moved charts through his self produced songs including popular OSTs like “Last Chance” from Queen of Tears. Though we only had a short time to sit with him, we wanted to share his thoughts. Frankly, his speaking voice and charisma make this new fan understand why he’s so popular in Korea. He has a voice guaranteed not to disappoint.

Q: HELLO SO SOOBIN! CAN YOU PLEASE INTRODUCE YOURSELF AND LET US KNOW WHY KCONERS SHOULD BE ADDING SO SOO BIN TO THEIR PLAYLIST?

Soobin: It’s so nice to meet you. I’m So Soobin and I’m a songwriter, singer and musician. I’m here at KCON and have given thought as to why I would recommend listening to my music. One reason that came to mind is when many of you leave work and are on your way home, whether in a bus or car, I thought, wouldn't you enjoy listening to my music? Wouldn’t it be healing (after a hard day's work)?

Q: WHAT SONG ARE YOU MOST EXCITED TO BE PERFORMING AT KCON AND CAN YOU TELL US A BIT ABOUT THE SONG?

A: Today, especially, I’m playing one song on the acoustic guitar titled “The Warmest Gift.” This song is one that I really look forward to because it’s not a song played with many instruments, just with one simple guitar, and I thought it might have more meaning this way. It’s something that I’m really looking forward to.

Q: DO YOU HAVE AN ITEM THAT IS CLOSE TO YOU THAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO SHARE WITH FANS?

A: Personally, I’m sensitive to humidity, and it’s something I generally have around. Since hand fans are so well made these days, I think it’s helpful to have one and for taking care of my throat as well.

Q: ANY LAST WORDS FOR OUR KRAZE READERS?

A: We were fortunate to meet this way today and I hope that we will be able to spend a great time together and create moments that we can look back on fondly. I’ll work hard to create those kinds of memories.

With these last words we left to listen to his performance at KCON’s X Stage. Cute when doing cat ears during the challenge, and moving when he began to sing in earnest, his voice, especially during the stage when he played with his acoustic guitar, was a gift to hear live. We hope to see So Soobin again stateside and so thankful to KCON and So Soobin for taking the time to speak to us.
