K/DA has made their first comeback since 2020. The virtual K-Pop group composed of League of Legends characters Ahri, Akali, Evelynn, and Kai’Sa released their second EP, FIRESTARTER, on October 21. i-dle’s Soyeon and Miyeon reprise their roles as Akali and Ahri, respectively, while Sophie Powers voices Evelynn and Mimi Webb voices Kai’Sa for this new EP.

Origins of K/DA

K/DA debuted on November 3, 2018 as a virtual girl group created by Riot Games, the video game company behind large franchises such as League of Legends and Valorant. Their single “POP/STARS” launched their career with a bold electronic track with plenty of sass. The original singers behind the characters were i-dle’s Soyeon and Miyeon, and Madison Beer and Jaira Burns. On November 6, 2020, the group released their first EP, ALL OUT, delivering an ambitious and wide-ranging selection of songs. Lexie Liu joined to provide the singing voice of League of Legends’s Seraphine, and the five tracks featured multiple collaborators: artists included Kim Petras and TWICE members Nayeon, Sana, Jihyo, and Chaeyoung.

K/DA is part of Riot Games’s multiple music projects. Other League of Legends-related music groups include the hip-hop group True Damage, which i-dle’s Soyeon also took part in as Akali, and the boy group HEARTSTEEL, which features EXO’s Baekhyun as Ezreal. HEARTSTEEL and True Damage both made comebacks this September and October, respectively, in preparation for League of Legends Worlds 2026.

“FIRESTARTER”

K/DA changed their vocal lineup for the FIRESTARTER EP. English singer-songwriter Mimi Webb joins as Kai'Sa, and Canadian singer-songwriter Sophie Powers joins as Evelynn. Powers has contributed to K-Pop songs since 2025, through featuring on a version of ILLIT’s “jellyous” and through co-writing IVE’s “GOTCHA (Baddest Eros)” and NMIXX’s “Reality Hurts.” In “FIRESTARTER,” K/DA comes back as confident and powerful as ever, with loud chants that proclaim that no one can put out their drive. This electro-pop song hits with intimidating rap verses and sleek vocals that creep up like a predator waiting to pounce on its prey.

French animation studio Fortiche produced the dynamic music video. They also created K/DA’s “POP/STARS” music video and worked on the Arcane television series. The video shows the four members arising from coffins and boldly announcing their return through a fiery entrance. K/DA will also return to the stage on November 14 during League of Legends Worlds 2026 with a live performance featuring their four singers.
