On September 26, 2026, UNIS disbanded following the end of their temporary contract. The group from the survival show Universe Ticket finished their career last week shortly after the release of their single “Milky Way.” As the first group from the Universe survival show series, UNIS was an example of K-Pop’s expanding list of global acts.

Universe Ticket

With the premise of creating an eight-member global girl group, Universe Ticket began airing on November 18, 2023. The show saw applications from individuals from 128 countries and finalized its cast list to 82 participants. The number “82” represents Korea’s international country code, a decision that reflects how trainee hopefuls from all over the world come to the nation in search of K-Pop stardom.

After 10 episodes, the final group’s lineup was decided on January 17, 2024. UNIS, standing for “Universe is Started” and “U&I Story,” was composed of Korean-Filipina member Hyeonju, formerly known as Belle in cignature and Lucky in Good Day; Japanese members Nana and Kotoko; Filipina members Gehlee and Elisia; and Korean members Yunha, Yoona, and Seowon. The group signed to a 2.5-year contract as the first K-Pop act under F&F Entertainment. The company would later expand its roster in 2025 with AHOF, the winners of the global boy group survival show Universe League.

“SUPERWOMAN”

On March 27, 2024, UNIS released their first EP, WE UNIS. Their debut title track “SUPERWOMAN” conveys that anyone can become a superwoman, a person with total confidence and strength. With house, Afrobeats, and moombahton influences, “SUPERWOMAN” is as powerful as the person its lyrics describe.*

“Curious”

UNIS made their first comeback on August 6, 2024, with their single album CURIOUS. The title track “Curious” shows its strength through the rock genre. Taking from the same guitar riff sample as MONSTA X’s “Beautiful Liar,” “Curious” urges listeners to step outside of their comfort zone. The track urges listeners to explore their true selves and the qualities that make them happy.*

“SWICY”

UNIS continued using rock for a sugary sweet concept in SWICY on April 15, 2025. As Seowon described in an interview with The Kraze last year, the song was “inspired by the perfect harmony of spiciness and sweetness, like gochujang in a sweet dessert.” It describes a cute exterior with a fiery personality through the direct lyrics of a confession.*

“Milky Way”

UNIS’s final single, “Milky Way,” came out on September 23, 2026. This soft rock ballad reflects on the memories the group made, vowing never to forget everything as they part ways. The group compares the future to the Milky Way, a vast network of stars surrounded by unknown possibilities. The music video marks a proper goodbye with its release on the group's disbandment date.*
