Disbanded Boy Groups

Since its beginning, the K-Pop industry has produced hundreds, if not thousands, of talented music groups, each one drawing people in through their music, themes, concepts, and the visuals and personalities of their members. While some groups continue to be active, reaching anniversary milestones, others, unfortunately, enter disbandment or a long hiatus, leaving fans devastated. Thankfully, through the powers of streaming platforms like Spotify and websites like YouTube, their music continues to live on, allowing these groups to never be forgotten. Below are some disbanded groups that I believe are still worth checking out today.

“COUNTDOWN” - 1TEAM

Although having sadly disbanded in 2021, just two years after making their debut, 1TEAM's discography remains as one of my favorites; songs that carry quite a nostalgic feel for me with 1TEAM being one of the first groups I discovered during my early days of listening to K-Pop. A five-piece, consisting of members: Rubin, BC, Jin Woo, Je Hyun, Jung Hoon, 1TEAM debuted with the mini-album Hello!, which featured the three tracks: “습관적 (VIBE),” “COUNTDOWN,” and “BOUT U.” All three tracks are worth listening to, but it is “COUNTDOWN” that stands out as my favorite. An electronic, hip-hop-infused pop track, “COUNTDOWN” sees the rap line shine with their infectious flows against the song's melodic beat. It's a hard-hitting track with exceptional vocals and rapping that deserves more attention than it has, being a song that I could listen to and sing along to on repeat.

“Without You” - CIX

For any FIX out there, this one still hurts, as in April 2026, CIX announced their disbandment following contract expirations. In the seven years that they were active, CIX released some of the best music in K-Pop, songs worthy of more hype and attention for years to come, regardless of their activity. The opening song to their fifth EP, ‘OK’ Episode 1 : OK Not, “Without You” showcases CIX's strong vocal flow and vocal chemistry, with the members lending their dulcet vocals to a tropical-infused pop ballad production, where each voice beautifully complements the other. With its tropical sounds, “Without You” releases a melodic summer feel into the air, allowing the listener to feel calm and relaxed while also allowing them to be in their emotions with the song’s touching lyrics

“Drop The Bass” - MIRAE

Debuting under DSP Media in 2021, MIRAE were a seven-member group whose discography contained fun and upbeat tracks that lifted the mood of anyone who listened to their music. One of those tracks is "Drop The Bass," which closes MIRAE's fifth mini-album Boys will be Boys, released in 2023. The track carries a hip-hop-inspired pop sound, heavily led by rap vocals, with an infectious melody and catchy lyrics that will have you singing along to the chorus instantly. To me, "Drop the Bass" sounds reminiscent of tracks released by NCT with its beat and rap style, meaning fans of NCT and all of its sub-units would love this song too, with “Drop The Bass” being a strong track that could gain just as much traction, if not more, if released today.
