Two years after their last release, SM Entertainment mega boy group NCT 127 is back with their new album, BLINGY - The 7th Album. This comeback was highly anticipated. As the dynamic of the group changed, with members leaving for the military and returning, many wondered what the sound of the new album would be. With hints from members, fans were anticipating a striking release with that signature NCT Neo sound, and they were correct. The members bring maximum energy from the first note. The chorus is the first thing listeners hear from the members, and they use all their might to deliver the lyrics at an energetic volume. As listeners move through each verse, they hear how each member takes control of their lines. For example, Taeyong’s verse is hard-hitting as he attacks each word with force, and his fast flow matches the upbeat tempo of the song. Haechan’s smooth vocals during his verse ride the beat, and during the pre-chorus breakdown, when the beat has slowed down and is preparing to build back up for the chorus, he commands the attention of all listeners with his powerful high notes. The members use their collective vocals to create an eruption of layered sound that matches the high energy of “Blingy.”
In the music video, the members take the title “Blingy” seriously. Throughout the entire video, bling is showcased in every scene. Gold, money, jewelry, and more are spread across tables and shown with each member. While watching the video, you get to see the phenomenal choreography. Packed with energy like the track, the choreography features synchronized arm and leg movements, flaring arm movements, intricate footwork, and smooth transitions from spot to spot. NCT’s choreography is always upbeat, and this dance is exactly that. It is a fun dance for a fun song.
