From Refreshing Boys to Refreshing Rascals: The Wind's Loudest Era Yet

K-Pop group The Wind has returned with a bold new statement of identity. On July 29, 2026, the six-member act — Kim Heesoo (김희수, currently on hiatus), Thanatorn (타나톤), Choi Hanbin (최한빈), Park Hayuchan (박하유찬), An Chanwon (안찬원), and Jang Hyounjoon (장현준) — released their fourth mini-album, Second Wind: S#00, under PPANGSTAR Entertainment, led by the title track "Party Like A Rockstar."

It’s Round 2 for The Wind

The album's concept centers on the idea of returning stronger after a moment of exhaustion, hence the "second wind" they refer to is the one that carries an athlete past their limit. In the official statement accompanying the release, the group labeled their revamped music style not as a reboot, but as a deliberate “level-up” that builds on their previous work rather than discarding it.

The subtitle "S#00" functions as what the group calls an "Origin Code": they describe it as “the coordinates where every story begins, and the first page on which The Wind’s new worldview is recorded for the very first time.”

Three years after their debut, the guys are determined to leave a mark on the musical scene and express their identity freely, with infectious energy.

A New Identity: "Refreshing Hip"

For this era, The Wind partnered closely with Park Kyung (박경) of Block B (블락비), who wrote, composed, and produced every track on the mini-album. Known for lively melodies and unfiltered emotion in his songwriting, Park Kyung was a natural fit for The Wind's established brightness. The new identity they built together has been dubbed "Refreshing Hip" by the group.

The Title Track: Inheriting the Legacy of American Punk-Pop and Punk-Rock Legends?

"Party Like A Rockstar" is built around funky guitar riffs layered against EDM swagger, giving The Wind's familiar bright charm a rawer, more unrestrained delivery than on previous albums. The lyrics drip with playful self-assurance, presenting the irresistible, star-like presence of members who cannot stop singing, dancing, and stirring up harmless chaos wherever they go. Between English hooks, catchy la-la-la refrains, and cheeky Korean wordplay, it's hard not to hear an echo of the swagger that punk-pop and punk-rock acts like Blink-182 and Green Day brought to international audiences back in the early 2000s, filtered here through a distinctly K-pop lens.

The accompanying music video matches that energy beat for beat, following the members as they dash through hallways and turn ordinary school corridors and classrooms into makeshift playgrounds. Paired with loose, sporty styling and an unpolished, spontaneous performance style, the visual completes the group's transformation into the "refreshing mischief-makers" it calls itself in the press release, as circulated by major Korean outlets.

Strong Early Reception

The comeback has already made an impact commercially. According to a report from fnnews published August 5, 2026, "Party Like A Rockstar" entered the MelOn HOT 100 chart immediately upon release, quickly drawing listener attention. The group has since taken the song to various music programs and stages, delivering performances described as more relaxed and self-assured than in past eras, further cementing the "Refreshing Hip" identity they set out to establish with this release.

The guys have managed to reinvent themselves by keeping their "refreshing" core intact while adding confidence, looseness, and a touch of rebellion. As the album's own tagline puts it: every new story begins at #00, and The Wind's new breeze is beginning to blow once more.
