Throwback Thursday: Memorable MAMA Collaborations Part 2
The Mnet Asian Music Awards is almost here! Last week we covered a few memorable collaboration stages between K-Pop idols and international artists. This week, we are covering a few more special stages from previous MAMA airings. With Janet Jackson as the special international artist gracing the MAMA 2018 stage, there is much anticipation for what she will bring to the table
Icona Pop & CL
CL has once again made our list. In 2013, the Swedish electro-pop duo Icona Pop performed their hits “All Night” and “I Love It.” The former 2NE1 leader joined in during “I Love It,” adding her own rap style to the song. Be prepared to get “I Love It” stuck in your head, as it is really catchy!
Pet Shop Boys & f(x)
In 2015, U.K. veteran pop group Pet Shop Boys were invited and awarded for the “Worldwide Inspiration Award.” Having such a widely popular group with years of experience perform during the award ceremony was quite an honor. K-Pop girl group f(x) joined in during the second half to perform “What Have I Done to Deserve This?” with the legendary group. As both are known for their electro-pop sound and style, it was only perfect that the Pet Shop Boys and f(x) had the opportunity to share the stage.
Ylvis & Crayon Pop
When it comes to addictive and viral songs, there are quite a few that come to mind. During MAMA 2013, Ylvis performed their viral hit “The Fox (What Does The Fox Say?)” which definitely had fans up and dancing along. But as a surprise, they joined Crayon Pop during their performance for “Bar Bar Bar.” Seeing both groups perform the iconic jumping dance was truly a sight to see. Fair warning: this is another collaboration that will get stuck in your head after playing it.
