(G)I-DLE Expresses Mysterious Emotions in “HANN”
The power rookie group (G)I-DLE is back with their first digital single! They have made a huge impact in the K-Pop industry with their debut mini-album, I Am, to the point where they have been compared to power groups like BLACKPINK and f(x). They released their single on August 14 for listeners to enjoy before the summer season ends.
“한(一) (Alone)” is written by member Soyeon and it expresses the emotions of being betrayed and alone after separating from the person you once loved. Minnie whistles throughout the song, which adds more impact to the mysterious vibe of the lyrics. The lyrics are unique, and emphasis is placed on repeating certain words throughout the chorus to make the song more eerie, such as in the repetitive “woo woo woo.”
The music video has a Latin/Spanish atmosphere due to the location and some specific scenes, such as when Soyeon touches a scorpion. The main color themes of the song are black and red, which represent the feelings of hatred and betrayal embodied by the track. Each of the members is seen as otherworldly goddesses, no longer having feelings for the people they once loved. The last scene where each member is shown with a black veil slightly covering her face depicts the fact they have no regrets and have instead moved on from their past lovers.
(G)I-DLE has been surprising everyone with both singing and dancing skills as well as each member’s beauty. They have clearly broken expectations with this digital single, with each member showing off unique skills. Please support and love (G)-IDLE as they continue to grow as artists!
