Everything You Need to Know About NCT Dream’s Latest Beauty Endorsement, SOMETHINC

NCT Dream members Renjun, Jeno, Chenle, Jaemin, and Jisung were recently announced as the “New Squad Leader” of SOMETHINC. If you are not familiar with the brand or looking to learn more about the products the Dreamies are endorsing, we are here to help.

SOMETHINC is a popular Indonesian beauty brand that sells both skincare and makeup, all of which have a Halal Certificate. Although this doesn’t have a universal specification when it comes to cosmetics, it implements that the company’s entire production chain is Halal. SOMETHINC also gets a brownie point from me for being conscientious about waste. They take back empty skincare jars (from any brand) at their stores so they can recycle them and reduce waste created by the cosmetics industry.

As part of their promotion with NCT Dream, SOMETHINC put together four different “NCT Dream’s Pick” skincare kits that fight different skin concerns—of course, all including 5DREAM photocards which, without a doubt, help clear the skin. The kits sold out pretty fast, but NCTzens don’t have to worry: the second batch is on its way and you can sign up for restock notifications on the website.

Now a little more about the actual products, in no particular order:

Acne & Pore Combat Kit (Vol.1)

As the name of the Acne & Pore Combat Kit (Vol.1) suggests, this is a great set for those struggling with acne and textured, oily, or dull skin. It comes with the brand’s Glow Maker AHA BHA PHA Clarifying Treatment Toner which works as a gentle exfoliator that won’t strip your skin while getting rid of dead skin cells, blackheads, and whiteheads, resulting in a clearer complexion and a more even texture.

They also included the Bakuchiol Skinpair Oil Serum in this kit. Bakuchiol is a natural alternative to retinol, as it also increases cell turnover, improves skin elasticity, and slows down the signs of aging. It is mixed with salicylic acid in this serum, which smooths out acne bumps. The two ingredients together result in glowy, healthy skin.

The last product in this kit is the tubed version of their Ceramic Skin Saviour, which is a hypoallergenic, hydrating moisturizer that revives and strengthens the skin. It contains betaine to smooth the skin and oat, which is great for oil control and is probably why this product is included here. But I’m actually more intrigued by its other ingredients, like hydrolyzed marine collagen, the very popular niacinamide, the UV-fighting hydrolyzed algae extract, and caffeine. This mix does sound like a savior for the skin’s barrier if you ask me.

Anti Aging Kit (Vol.1)

Now let’s put it out there, anti-aging isn’t about turning back time; it’s mostly about preventing—or it should be. So no, I don’t mind idols in their early twenties promoting anti-aging, because this is how your skin is going to stay plump and youthful even a decade or two later.

This kit comes with a Low pH Gentle Jelly Cleanser which seems like a good alternative for COSRX’s Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser, one of my favorites on the market. The SOMETHINC cleanser is vegan-based and formulated with Japanese mugwort, which has great anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects to help fight aggressors like UV-rays and stimulate collagen production to reduce fine lines.

This kit follows up with the Level 1% Encapsulated Retinol, an obvious and very well-made choice as anti-aging and retinol come hand in hand. Retinol is a derivative of Vitamin A and smooths out fine lines while firming up and brightening the skin. Although it is safe to use in the morning with the correct sun protection, I still recommend using retinol products mostly in your nighttime routine.

The finishing touch from this anti-aging routine is the new formulation of the brand’s Game Changer Ultimate Eye Concentrate Gel, which brightens up and hydrates the sensitive area around the eyes.

Sensitive Skin Kit (Vol.1)

If you have sensitive skin and are looking for some new products to help with your redness or breakouts in a gentle way, this kit could be a great starter pack.

This mini collection also comes with the previously mentioned Low pH Gentle Jelly Cleanser, which can easily fit into all skincare routines regardless of skin type. The next two products are the ones that will help you strengthen your sensitive skin. The 5% Niacinamide Barrier Serum strengthens the skin’s barrier so it can fight outer aggressors better while restoring already damaged skin. It’s a perfect pick for those who want to get rid of some hyperpigmentation without redness or stripping the skin. This kit also contains the tubed version of the Ceramic Skin Saviour gel moisturizer which, as mentioned before, is a great hydrating product filled with intriguing ingredients that your skin is bound to love. Its gel texture will also feel calming and relaxing on sensitive skin.

Brightening Skin Kit (Vol. 1)

This kit is perfect for those who are looking to freshen up their dull, tired skin and are ready to glow like any NCT member.

The first product is their vegan Reset Gentle Micellar Cleansing Water which is suitable for any skin type. It is hypoallergenic and contains mugwort, which controls excess sebum without the product penetrating the skin, instead attracting the natural oils your skin needs. It’s a nice option to remove light makeup or just to refresh your face, but I would still recommend a cleansing foam (and even a cleansing balm in case of heavy makeup) besides this, just to assure a thorough cleanse. Double cleansing is a skin’s savior, and to me, micellar water would only be the third step of cleansing.

This kit comes with the same Glow Maker AHA BHA PHA Clarifying Treatment Toner as in the Acne & Pore Combat Kit (Vol.1). As previously explained, it is a great and gentle daily toner that will give you a smooth skin texture, and an even tone, resulting in an overall more radiant look.

The third product is something that I already added to my wanna-try skincare list and will definitely get my hands on it as soon as I’m running low on my Vitamin C storage in my beauty fridge. The Lemonade Waterless Vitamin C + Ferulic + NAG sounds very “appetizing” and something that would also fit NCT 127, if you know what I mean. Vitamin C is a great brightening and antioxidant agent, but this product mixes it with two more ingredients that add to these effects, ferulic and NAG. It also contains 67% Jeju lemon extract water. Looking at these ingredients and description, I don’t only want to hop on a plane to Jeju to sip on a glass of sweet-and-sour lemonade, but it also makes this serum seem like a promising fighter against dark spots, wrinkles, and fine lines, and I can’t wait to try it soon. Though, if you are using it with the toner included in this kit, make sure that it is absorbed completely before you apply the serum, and always use a proper amount of sunscreen at the end of your routine. This should always be done, but especially with Vitamin C products as it’s a highly reactive antioxidant.
