WJSN Chocome Saves the Day in “Super Yuppers!”
Two years after their debut, WJSN’s sub-unit WJSN Chocome has finally returned with their single album and title track of the same name, Super Yuppers! This quartet is here to save the day with their superhero charms and powers!
In October 2020, WJSN Chocome debuted with their single album and title track Hmph!, which gained positive support as fans said their sound felt nostalgic to second generation K-Pop. They’ve been positively compared to legendary trio Orange Caramel for their extraordinary concepts, addictive dance-pop sound, and camp fashion sense. The quartet features members Soobin, Luda, Yeoreum, and Dayoung.
The Super Yuppers! Single album contains two singles: title track “Super Yuppers! (슈퍼 그럼요)” and B-side “Sweetie (쪼꼬우유).” The title track was composed and arranged by Lee Changmin, Moon6uoy, and Ragoon, and track two was composed by Lee Changmin, Great Brother, Ragoon, and Lucid8.
“Super Yuppers!” is a disco-pop and dance single that’ll tickle your brain with its retro sound. The track sounds similar to singles released by Crayon Pop and Orange Caramel with its memorable and catchy beats. Almost four minutes long, “Super Yuppers!” is certain to put a smile on your face and become your serotonin boost for tough days. This adorable and fun superhero anthem will have you bouncing off the walls, desiring to be a superheroine just like the girls in WJSN Chocome.
The beginning of the music video takes you into the quartet’s transformation into superheroines, taking inspiration from Sailor Moon. Throughout the music video, these ladies are fighting crimes big and small—robbery, littering, scams, destroying property—and saving the day. As your friendly neighborhood superhero quartet, WJSN Chocome is there to save the day rain or shine, living to protect any in danger. Aside from the video, the ladies showcase their quirky and cute sides in stylish outfits like a Sailor Moon-inspired costume, pastel two pieces, and white suits. One thing that will catch your eye in the music video are the Lays and Pepsi products seemingly being promoted; admittedly, seeing these products appear might give you cravings. With bright colors, adorably comedic shots, and fun choreography, WJSN Chocome has brought back the extraordinary and camp concepts that K-Pop has missed
Super Yuppers! is available for streaming on Spotify, YouTube Music, and as a physical CD. Make sure to stay up-to-date on everything WJSN via Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok. Check out WJSN Chocome’s music video for “Super Yuppers!” below!
