BE A “LO$ER=LO♡ER” FOR TXT

In the year of 2021, K-Pop groups and musicians everywhere were changing up their style and preparing themselves for something everyone called the “new normal.” This rang true for the K-Pop group TXT (Tomorrow x Together), who tried a bit of a new concept following their colorful releases since their debut in 2019.

TXT released their repackaged album The Chaos Chapter: FIGHT OR ESCAPE on August 17, 2021, just two months after the release of their previous album The Chaos Chapter: FREEZE. The repackaged album came with three new songs, one of them being an emo version of “0X1=LOVESONG (I Know I Love You),” which furthermore expressed their change in concept as a group.

The repackaged album was released with its title track “LO$ER=LO♡ER,” which gained a lot of attention with its catchy chorus. It debuted on the Gaon Monthly Download Chart for the month of August at No. 21. The song starts off with a mellow intro of member Soobin singing, “I’m a loser, I’m a loser,” then a beat drops and goes straight into member Yeonjun starting off the song with his rap. Throughout the song, you get a mixture of singing and rapping but also a beat that you can dance to with lyrics that many can relate to. The song speaks on issues that real teenagers face and stays true to TXT’s goal: speaking for the youth.

THE MUSIC VIDEO

The music video for “LO$ER=LO♡ER” was released on August 17, 2021, and as of writing, the music video sits at 78 million views. The video follows the group’s storyline, but also includes plots to keep MOAs wanting more explanations for certain scenes. The video starts off with Yeonjun in front of a gray car which he drives around in the “0X1=LOVESONG (I Know I Love You)” music video, which proves that this is a continuation of it. Throughout the music video, you see the members going through battles, whether at work like Huening Kai or at home with his father like Beomgyu. The lyrics and video express that even through these tough times in a messed up world, the boys seek for love from that special someone.

This release was a powerful one for the group as it showed the world what different genres of music TXT can bring. While the boys prepare for their new comeback in about a month to ring in the new year, MOAs are excited to see what comes next for the boys.
