Get To Know Your Favorite Artist’s Go-To Jewelry Brand: OHTNYC

Who Are OHTNYC?

OHTNYC was founded by Jinsol Woo, a New York Fashion Institute of Technology graduate who shared on social media that he began the brand with only $200 to his name.

The brand describes their pieces as bold and androgynous– bringing edgy and cute elements together to create their jewelry and accessories. Their brand advocates for genderless expression, pushing the boundaries in which jewelry is present in one’s individuality and self expression.

As per OHTNYC’s name, their items are handmade in New York City. The majority of the pieces produced by them are made from silver and gold-coated brass. They also state on their site that specific pieces are made from stainless steel. In comparison to sterling silver, these pieces will be more durable and last longer in great condition. From reviews on their site, the jewelry and accessories are lightweight and don’t feel as heavy as they look with the pendants hanging.

OHTNYC are also accommodating in regards to sizes of the pieces, stating on their website that if requested via email or in the Notes section during checkout that the jewelry can be customized with a detachable extension for a more comfortable fit.

OHTNYC has gotten attention from various people in the entertainment industry, being worn by the likes of Soulja Boy, Olivia Rodrigo, Gigi Hadid, Chloe x Halle, and many more. The pieces created by OHTNYC are extremely versatile and are perfect for those who want to express themselves with no limit.

OHTNYC x K-Pop

OHTNYC first came to my attention through TikTok, when one of Jinwoo Lee’s videos popped up on my “for you” page.

Some of the pieces I instantly recognised in the video were the pearl cross earrings and necklace worn by Stray Kids’ member Felix. I found from the OHTNYC website that the pearl cross necklace was also worn by Highlight’s Doojoon and aespa’s Karina, which I found to be really interesting because all three idols portray different vibes. However, the jewelry matches each of them perfectly.

Many of OHTNYC’s pieces have been worn by different people in the industry, ranging from magazine pictorials, music video shoots, and album jacket shoots—some of which are featured in OHTNYC’s Instagram highlight titled “AS SEEN ON.” The brand recently shared a video featuring girl-group members who have worn some of their pieces.

When it comes to K-Pop specifically, the lines between what is deemed masculine or feminine are blurred and the androgynous aspect is what brings people in. Having jewelry that can be worn by anyone and everyone is a reason why OHTNYC’s jewelry continues to be sought out. From STAYC to P1Harmony, DeVita to Highlight, OHTNYC are making themselves stand out within the K-Industry by creating these timeless pieces fit for everyone, no matter their aesthetic.
