Add a Bit of Twinkle to Your Day!

For this week’s Throwback Thursday, we will be looking at a few songs that bring a “twinkle” of charisma and talent from these lovely girl groups.

Girl’s Day - “Twinkle Twinkle”

Known for leaning toward sexier concepts, Girl’s Day gave us a fun twist in “Twinkle” as they combined hilarity and adorableness in this song and music video. The song is upbeat, catchy, and chock-full of cuteness. One line in particular, “Hajima hajima mamamama mamamama / Gajima gajima mamamama mamamama,” is sure to stick in your head. The music video really adds to this cuteness with the cartoon-like antics from the girls. There is one girl in particular (played by Minah) who, at the beginning of the video, is practicing crazy tactics to use on the other girls and get one boy’s attention. The choreography flows into this cartoon style as it is full of cute moves that add to the charm of the members.

Lovelyz - “Twinkle”

Lovelyz gives us that fast tempo, electronic pop sound in “Twinkle.” The tune adds a pure cheerfulness to this happy song with the inclusion of chimes, and their vocals are sure to catch your attention, especially in the chorus. The music video brings a warm feel to it as the members prepare for the Christmas season by knitting, picking out chime decor, admiring a snowglobe, and praying for their holiday wishes to come true. The dance is graceful and fun, making it the perfect addition to this joyful song.

Girls’ Generation-TTS - “Twinkle”

Girls’ Generation-TTS’s “Twinkle” is quite iconic, as many groups have covered the song and performance, like Dreamcatcher and Red Velvet. “Twinkle” is a soulful tune with absolutely incredible vocals. The sub-unit’s individual lines allow each member to shine and show off their own skills before they come together in beautiful harmony. The music video goes all out with the members’ glamorous outfits, from stunning runway looks to gorgeous flowing robes as they prepare for their performance—you can’t help but to feel entranced by each member. The video also features some then-recently debuted EXO members, including Chanyeol, Baekhyun, Sehun, and Kai. “Twinkle” is stylish and powerful musically as well as the stage presence of the members, making it hard to forget.
