We’re Going On A “LOVE DIVE” with IVE

IVE has returned with their single album LOVE DIVE, and we couldn't be more excited. The girl group from Starship Entertainment stole the hearts of K-Pop fans (and ours) with their debut late last year. Their debut title track, “ELEVEN,” quickly became a hit and even made its way around TikTok with a viral trend. The six members have two new songs, the title track “LOVE DIVE” and “ROYAL.”

Although they just recently debuted, IVE has already established a sound that lets you know right away it's them when you hear it. This factor has carried over to “LOVE DIVE.” The synth-pop song is a sound that could only be IVE. With an unexpected beat change during the chorus, the song captures your attention and showcases the creativity around their sound. The same can be said for “ROYAL.” While more EDM-heavy, it carries the same addictive tones as “LOVE DIVE.” Members Rei and Gaeul even participated in creating the rap for the B-side. 

The music video for “LOVE DIVE” features the girls dressed in school uniforms and modern-day cupids (we can't help but be slightly reminded of Sailor Moon with their toy arrows and angel wings that they wore during their comeback showcase). We transition from warmer tones during the verses to cool-toned blues in the chorus, going perfectly in sync with the beat change. In terms of choreography, IVE shows how powerful they are when dancing. The choreography features intricate hand and arm movements that seem to be the group's signature; they make it look easy and captivate with their performance. 

With the success that IVE had with “ELEVEN,” there was much anticipation for what the group would do next. To us, the girls have pulled off another hit, and it makes us eager for what else the rookies have to showcase going forward. You can check out LOVE DIVE here.
