Throwback Thursday: K-Pop Throwback for Your Zodiac, Pt. 2

Here’s the next round of K-Pop throwbacks based on your birth month and zodiac sign! This time we’ll try to go a little more in-depth with the remaining signs by choosing songs that either have release dates that coordinate with each month's respective zodiac or traits commonly associated with the sign.

Gemini - “Picky Picky” by Weki Meki

For the multi-faceted and spontaneous Gemini, “Picky Picky” by Weki Meki will certainly speak to you. As the twins of the zodiac, “Picky Picky” describes the decisiveness and duality of knowing exactly what you want and what you don't. For this curious sign that’s always seeking more, it’s important to know left from right.

Other honorable mentions that might suit a Gemini include Tomorrow x Together (TXT)’s “New Rules,” Chungha’s “Roller Coaster,” and Red Velvet’s “Peek-A-Boo.”

Cancer - “SENTIMENTAL” by WINNER

Empathy and sensitivity are common traits in the Cancer zodiac, with their broad emotional range and depth being attributed heavily to this sign. For that, WINNER’s “SENTIMENTAL” is perfect for capturing that feeling. Released in February of 2016, this song still manages to embody the sentiments of the Cancer zodiac with its reference to the unique feeling of having overwhelming emotions and no outlet. The members curse the nostalgia, desperate to escape the cacophony of feelings that follow missing someone and loneliness.

Some other fitting songs that embody the Cancer vibes are “Heart Attack” by former LOONA member Chuu, TWICE’s “Likey,” and “PITAPAT (DKDK)” by fromis_9 (“dkdk” is the abbreviation for a Korean onomatopoeia that mimics the sound of a pounding heart, a common reaction for those experiencing strong emotions).

Leo - “DALLA DALLA” by ITZY

Leos are more than their notable degree of confidence. This sign is well known for its passion, drive, bravery, and loyalty. With such an immense vibe, the equally as powerful “DALLA DALLA” is the song for Leo. ITZY’s feisty debut track boasts about loving oneself and marching along to the beat of their own drum. For the Leo that leads the pack rather than trail behind it, ITZY got that covered in “DALLA DALLA.”

Leo also suits “Pretty Savage” by BLACKPINK, “I Am The Best” by 2NE1, and “FANCY” by TWICE.

Virgo - “Don’t Call Me” by SHINee

Virgos are understood as being detailed, logical, and pragmatic. When they’re on a roll, one is better off leaving them to their own devices as they get things done. SHINee’s 2021 release “Don’t Call Me” reminds us not to waste Virgo's time.

TWICE’s “I CAN’T STOP ME,” TAEMIN’s “Advice,” and STAYC’s “STEREOTYPE” are also perfect for Virgo’s playlist for getting to work and getting things done.

Libra - “Shangri-La” by VIXX

Ruled by Venus, Libras are loved by love and beauty, and seek to uphold that within their daily lives. Libra is also defined by their desire for balance. VIXX’s 2018 title “Shangri-La” is a selection fitting Libra’s penchant for harmony. The concept of “Shangri-La” itself describes a perfect paradise beyond comprehension, a utopia. Perhaps the Libra would find their peace here.

Aside from the aforementioned traits, Libras are also defined by their indecisive and capricious nature; TWICE’s “YES or YES,” APRIL’s “Oh! my mistake,” and Apink’s “I’m So Sick” are also appropriate.

Scorpio - “CRY FOR ME” by TWICE

Like a rose, beautiful and sharp, a Scorpio is capable of embodying romance and violence at the same time. Intense, mysterious, and dominant are a few traits that immediately come to mind. What better way to capture this electrifying energy than the fiery TWICE single, “CRY FOR ME.” This song takes on the darker sides of love, of wanting to be free of the person that broke your heart, wanting to strike back at them – but overall still being unable to let go of that love for them.

Scorpios suit other elusive tracks, like Chungha’s “Gotta Go,” Sunmi’s “SIREN,” and HyunA’s “Cause I’m God Girl.”

Sagittarius - “Tempo” by EXO

Sagittarius are eccentric and fun-loving, seeking new experiences and adventure. For the sign that can’t be tied down, what’s better than some fitting background music for the next journey? EXO says it best in “Tempo” – “Don’t slow it up for me,” and “Don’t mess up my tempo.”

IZ*ONE's “Fiesta,” SEVENTEEN’s “Rock with you,” and BTS's “Not Today” are also great additions to a playlist fit for this sign.
