Everything Is Good & Great with New KEY Mini-Album
KEY! Many of us are so excited to hear from KEY once again, and as usual, he didn’t disappoint. KEY is a member of the iconic SM Entertainment boy group SHINee, and he serves every time. His new mini-album is titled Good & Great - The 2nd Mini-Album - EP and it’s really good. The mini-album contains six songs in total that show KEY’s personality.

Title Track: “Good & Great”
This is such a fun track. I am enjoying myself listening to this song. The smile that plastered my face while jamming to this light-hearted track was wide. The song is very inspiring and uplifting. The song is definitely a feel-good pop track that incorporates dance music. The choreography was hype. While watching the video, I couldn’t help but want to dance along. I can already see everyone learning this dance, and I am ready for the dance covers.
The video shows KEY in an office building working hard, and that fits the overall concept of the song. The video shows him working every day, getting employee of the month, going to meetings, and just doing run-of-the-mill things at work. There are parts of the video that show him out in some fields, happy and bubbly, having the time of his life. The song talks about the everyday emotions that people go through. It is actually a really deep song that holds a powerful message. Of course, KEY is going to come through with the outfits. The outfits are amazing and fit him perfectly. It’s overall a great title track that makes any listener feel good.
B-Sides
I love a good retro track, and that’s exactly what “Can’t Say Goodbye” is. This is for sure one of my favorites from the album. When listening to this song, all I can picture, for some reason, is a skating rink. I can see the disco lights and outfits while they dance on the rink. This is another fun track, and the vibe of feeling excited and happy transferred smoothly from the title track. I honestly feel this could have been the title track; that’s how powerful it is. The vocals on this song had me looking around the room because they were so good. KEY ate this one, and it will be on repeat for me.
The next song is so SHINee-coded, I can honestly picture them all singing it. “Intoxicating” is another dance track that also gives me that retro vibe. It’s very upbeat and showcases KEY’s vocals to the max. While being a dance track, it also incorporates a synth beat that adds a little sprinkle of pizazz to it.
Are we on the set of a teen rom-com right now? Because that’s where I think I am when I hear the next song on the tracklist. Keeping with that feel-good vibe, “Live Without You” had me feeling so bubbly inside. I can picture myself walking down school hallways with this blasting in my ears and holding my books. It’s a great, joyful experience that brings out the inner tween in us all.
When it clicked for me that “CoolAs” was in English, I had to replay the track. This song was giving me 70’s funk, and I was definitely grooving to it. “Ain’t no point in asking what’s the price, ‘cause I’m cool as” was stuck in my head all day long. “CoolAs” would hype up any listener and help them feel super empowered. It radiates main character energy, and that is a complete vibe in itself.
The final song on the mini-album is “Mirror, Mirror,” and my first thought when I saw the title was, “Is this going to give Disney?” Honestly, it sounds so peaceful and magical. It is a great way to end the mini-album when we’ve been on a high the whole time. It’s chill and graceful and a song you can’t help but sway to.
KEY did so well on this mini-album, and it has been on repeat for me since its release. Good & Great is a retro/funk-inspired album that left a smile on our faces from beginning to end. As a Shawol, I’m always super excited when the members drop anything, and my anticipation is always sky-high. So when I heard KEY was having a comeback, I already knew it was going to be amazing, and it was. KEY always makes fantastic music, and many of us can’t wait for the projects that he will have in the future.
