What’s The Kraze: Now Playing

This week we’re introducing a new column where our staff members get to share all their thoughts, feelings, and opinions on the goings-on in Korean entertainment. To kick things off, we started with the most basic of questions for any K-Pop fan: what are you currently listening to?

Clark (Editor): I literally just got out of class and put on the Spanish version of NMIXX’s “Soñar.” Their enunciation is not that bad and I liked the Latin spin on the change up.

Roxy (Chief Marketing Officer): I can’t get LE SSERAFIM’s “1-800-hot-n-fun” out of my head. The lyrics are so ridiculous and it’s the antithesis of what I usually like, especially because it’s all English. I do kind of like that it is considered kind of racy for K-Pop. We do need a little more of that boundary pushing.

Kelly (Co-Editor-in-Chief): You guys and your unexpected takes, then there’s me over here on my 70th day of listening to pretty much exclusively DAY6 (I’m not exaggerating). Although I will say that “Pineapple Slice” had me for a bit. The power of Byun Baekhyun.

Jay (Marketing Director): I’ve been obsessed with the Yeonjun feature on KATSEYE’s “Touch.” They complement each other so well and it’s just so catchy!

Kelly: I haven’t listened to it yet but he honestly makes so much sense as a feature on that song.

Roxy: “Touch” is another one I can’t get out of my head. It’s a prison in here.

Cidney (Writer): I am obsessed with “Roses” by JAEHYUN! I am a sucker for an R&B song and I listen to that song literally every day! Other than that, I am constantly listening to “Sad Song” by P1Harmony. Their music never misses.

Kelly: The amount of people I still see talking about JAEHYUN’s solo is crazy.

Rina (Writer): I second JAEHYUN. That album has me in a chokehold.

Joi (Editor): “Deja Vu” from TAEMIN’s ETERNAL has been on repeat for me! The arrangement, the vocals, and the deep soulful instrumentation makes me feel like I’m transcending into another universe every single time I hear it.

Kelly: TAEMIN. So true.

Bryn (Editor): As Cidney said, I’m a sucker for R&B too, so JAEHYUN’s “Roses” and “Horizon,” but also some more heavy K-R&B focus so GEMINI’s “Attention” and JUNNY’s “TASTE.”

Cidney: Oh my god, how could I forget JUNNY? I’ve had his album on repeat since it dropped, especially “Complications.”

Jean (Photographer): I joined a group chat with a group of people going to Woosung’s dinner and concert in a few weeks and have been binging songs from his latest 4444 and MOTH.

Kelly: Yes! I covered the release of 4444 and I was honestly stunned. His voice always sounds good in every style but still…I was not expecting EDM Woosung to hit as hard as it did.

Robyn (Social Content Manager): All I have to say is…if you haven’t listened to YUTA’s solo album, YOU’RE MISSING OUT. Brings me back to late 2000s/early 2010s emo and Panic! At The Disco. So good!

Jacob (Writer): I’m still listening to NMIXX’s Fe3O4: STICK OUT a lot (“BEAT BEAT” is one of my favorite B-sides from them, period) but I’m looking to listen to BEWAVE’s latest album later today (also what I’m going to write “Ladies’ Corner” about this week) and checking out BIG Naughty and Kid Milli’s new EP +! More K-Hip-Hop but it should count.

Kelly: You can never go wrong with K-Hip-Hop.

Courtney (Writer): It’s not new but for some reason, I’ve been having H1GHER MUSIC’s “The Purge” on repeat and I don’t know why. But I did also really enjoy Yuta’s solo album (it’s honestly one of my favorite solo debuts), but I am also loving XG’s “IYKYK” and its old-school UK garage influence.

Ciara (Photographer): I’m on a PURPLE K!SS kick right now and I’ve had “t4ke” on repeat. I’ve also been loving Kang Daniel’s latest comeback “Electric Shock.” Also “DEJAVU” off of ONE PACTs latest album - the flow of the song can take you a bit by surprise at first, but I think that’s what I love about it. Tag is an ace rapper. (And One Pact is finally releasing another mini-album this month and I am so excited!!)

Check back next week to see more of what all the latest Kraze is.
