Loossemble Glows At the New York Up_Link Station Tour Stop

With heartfelt sincerity and vibrant energy, Loossemble checked into New York’s The Town Hall on October 9 to show their fans a brilliant time. As the second stop of their tour, Loossemble 2024 Concert in U.S Up_Link Station tour, the quartet of Gowon, Hyunjin, Hyeju, and Vivi performed sans Yeojin, who sat out on this tour due to health concerns. Though Yeojin’s absence was noted, the remaining ladies had no problem filling in and putting on a show that had everyone up and moving.

Opening with “Hocus Pocus,” the quartet came out ready to weave their magic. Sharply dressed in black and white, the ladies were giving sexy, yet cute, girl crush vibes. Hyunjin's cat ears were as adorable as Vivi's braids, while Hyeju’s gorgeous flowing locks and Gowon’s brilliant smile lit up the night. Moving smoothly amongst the screaming cheers of C.Loo (their fandom), the quartet had everyone on their feet from the get-go. The fun “He Said I Said,” started with Hyeju’s vocals before jumping into their upbeat choreography with everyone there singing along to the infectious lyrics, “he said, I said, I like you.”

Taking a moment to introduce themselves, the ladies expressed how much they had missed all the C.Loo there. Gowon noted that since their last time in the big apple a year ago, they had released two albums. Vivi spoke about their growth and noted that they would be showing a more mature side of themselves in this show to everyone’s excitement.

The sassiness began with “Girls’ Night,” where gestures played a prominent part of their routine as cute and sexy merged. Mic stands were brought out next, giving the quartet a chance to focus on their vocals starting with “Newtopia.” Making eye contact with fans, the ladies just looked like they were having fun and the positive energy just flew over. When Gowon’s rap part came up, they yelled, “Go Gowon,” which had everyone smiling and cheering through her verse.

The next ment focused on New York as Gowon and Vivi gushed about New York bagels. Vivi also spoke about riding the subway in New York for the first time, telling the crowd that she felt like it was a movie. The New Yorkers in the crowd could only hope that it was a fun one and not a horror flick.

The more mature side they promised came out with “Secret Diary.” Starting at the standing mics, it wasn’t long before they moved around the stage giving smiles and fan service to C.Loo, who were practically at the edge of the stage, and more than excited to engage. The quartet worked the stage with suggestive looks and moves. When Hyunjin raised Hyeju's face with her finger and looked into her eyes, it probably moved the temperature gauge up several degrees. “Real world” brought the playful back with the sexy using tighter choreography and group formations. “Colouring” has a great chorus that came alive as they sang it. The popular stage incorporated chairs in the choreography and the team knew how to use them to their advantage allowing their sexiness to flow.

It was finally “TTYL” time. The title track from their recent EP of the same name was the highlight of the night. For anyone who might not know the dance, this was not a problem as a member’s name was pulled out to teach it. For New York, Gowon won and with the rest of her team had everyone waving their arms and hips. Gowon recorded the crowd in this “TTYL Challenge” segment, and after the filming was done, the ladies began the stage in earnest. The crew fed off the energy through their captivating performance that included bits of twerking, which thankfully wasn’t in the challenge. ”TTYL” is an earworm that could definitely be stuck in ears for days after.

Breaking things up a bit, the two unit stages would be next. Vivi and Hyeju’s “Cotton Candy” fed right into Hyunjin and Gowon’s “Confessions.” In the former, the ladies played off each other in the choreo and Hyeju’s voice took center stage as moved with each other showing their mature side again in the song. Hyunjin and Gowon’s stage didn’t cool things off at all, demonstrating their ability to move. The remaining two joined them to end the stage as a quartet. “Boomerang” was the last song in this group. With a tighter choreography, the ladies had no problem matching their shimmies to the song.

Before “Moonlight,” the ladies took time for a segment titled, “Why I Love Loossemble.”

Before the show, fans were given post-its to write down their favorite thoughts about Loossemble, which were then read out loud. The quartet loved the positive love and encouragement from the messages as well as those who were so excited to share. “Moonlight” was the most creative stage that night. Performing with handheld lit up globes, the ladies were literally dancing with the moonlight. The glowing orbs in the darkness put their formations on another level. “Truman Show,” “Sensitive,” and “Starlight” rounded out the end of the official show. “Starlight” was full of fan service as they took phones and engaged with the audience. Gowon practically recorded the entire last song. It was clear that Loossemble didn’t want the night to end.

The encore in traditional merch shirts was just the crew having a blast engaging with everyone. With lightsticks in hand, they jumped, skipped and sang “Strawberry soda” and their fan song “Day by day.” It was clear that they wanted to share that time with every C.Loo and tried to give enough love to last until their return.

Thank you to Loosemble, CTDENM and Wonderwall for having us.
