XG “WOKE UP” Ready To Conquer, In Latest Single

The time of XG’s return has come for 2024! Fans have been eagerly awaiting for the global girl group to make a return, especially after their recent collaboration with the popular online game Valorant with their song “UNDEFEATED.” They have also previously announced that they are embarking on their first world tour kicking off in the fall, so it was only a matter of time till they released more music. 

Their latest single, “WOKE UP” is their newest entry into their repertoire, as they have another solidified banger on their list. But, it isn’t your typical XG track: this time, rap comes to the forefront and the vocals take a backseat. The rap line consisting of Cocona, Jurin, Harvey, and Maya comes up to the plate, taking the lead of “WOKE UP” and coming out with their claws, ready to swing. There is so much swag and confidence that oozes from “WOKE UP” that you can’t help but get sucked into their charisma. They know they are the “IT girls” and nothing is going to slow them down. Now, we just can’t exclude their vocalists, Juria, Hinata, and Chisa, as they too, despite not being rappers, dabble in the style in “WOKE UP.” 

It is known that XG goes out of the box when it comes to their music videos and concepts. “WOKE UP” is no stranger to that. This time, the XG members take on being wolves, evident in their fashion and the details of their nails actually looking like claws from a wolf. In many ways, as a close-knit group, they are a pack that moves together and protects each other. This is also a play on their fans who are named ALPHAZ, which is a cute nod to them within the lyrics as well. The visuals are striking, almost jarring, as there is a lot of fast motion and blurring effects that are used to build this fantasy. XG has this futuristic style to their music videos and it’s always a wonder as to what they will come out with next. Whether it be Cocona in real-time shaving her hair off and going bald, the several emphases of eyeballs, or striking silver grills made to look like fangs, XG is pushing the envelope of embracing the bold and the weird, and they’re rocking it. There are so many details that viewers can discover with each watch. 

While this is only a single from XG thus far, make no mistake that XG has something bigger and better up their sleeve that is coming soon.
