ÜBERMENSCH, A DEEP EXPLORATION

The title Übermensch, which means “superior man” or “superhuman,” refers to someone with the ability to surpass conventions in search of constant improvement. Borrowed from Nietzsche’s philosophy, this title suggests a deep exploration of the themes of transcendence and personal evolution. This ambition is reflected in the prestigious collaborations present in the album. Among them is “HOME SWEET HOME,” unveiled on November 22, 2024. This track reveals a highlight of the album by reuniting G-DRAGON with his BIGBANG companions, Taeyang and Daesung, offering fans a nostalgic and emotional collaboration.

“TOO BAD” featuring artist Anderson Paak, whose teaser was unveiled on February 22, 2025, is an optimistic and vibrant song imposing G-DRAGON’s unique signature. This track offers an innovative fusion of styles, reinforced by the surprise participation of Karina from the group aespa in the music video. Thus, the artists integrate multiple iconic references, such as Michael Jackson's video “The Way You Make Me Feel” - where we can also hear the reproduction of the famous "Hihi" of the King of Pop immediately after - as well as the legendary choreography of the film Pulp Fiction evoking the casual elegance and rebellious spirit of the film.

“DRAMA” reveals a very different style with a darker and more serious atmosphere. The clip emphasizes the powerful aspect of the industry, like a ballerina in a music box, forced to move to the rhythm of the music without any freedom. Rich in meaning, “DRAMA” captivates with its atmosphere that is both intimate and dark. This track suggests a force (a small reference to the title “POWER” from the album) that is superhuman (reference to the album title) is what is necessary to transcend the limits imposed by an oppressive and enslaving higher power.

The following tracks reveal G-DRAGON’s lover side. Between declarations of love, sensuality, and slightly scandalous lyrics, the artist closes his album with “GYRO-DROP,” a work that perfectly illustrates G-DRAGON’s bold and innovative spirit. Musically, “GYRO-DROP” fuses electro elements with urban rhythms, creating an atmosphere that is both futuristic and immersive. The track is distinguished by percussive beats that translate G-DRAGON’s desire to push the boundaries of the genre. This piece also marks an artistic metamorphosis: it reflects the paradox of a force that, while maintaining a certain balance, gives way to an unbridled creative impulse. In short, “GYRO-DROP” is more than just a title on the album; it is an invitation to experiment with the duality between control and abandon, a sonic signature that confirms G-DRAGON’s status as an innovator and provocateur in the contemporary musical landscape.
