Throwback Thursday: This Is What You Call A Masterpiece Part 3

It is time. It is time to talk about songs that we consider an absolute masterpiece. We all have a song that we consider the cream of the crop, a song that is above all—a masterpiece. So, let’s take it back and talk about some songs that just feel a cut above the rest.

GOT7 - “Stop stop it”

On November 28, 2014, former JYP Entertainment boy group GOT7 dropped their album Identify. On this album is a track that so many K-Pop fans know and still sing to this day. “Stop stop it” is an R&B track with a striking beat and hip-hop influence. The song is very addictive, and so is the dance. If this song were turned on, everyone would start singing along and trying to recreate the hand-waving motion of the choreography. “Stop stop it” also showcases the immense talent that the GOT7 members have. We hear soulful vocals during the song, and the rappers give us such memorable raps that you will try to sing along. Trust, when this song comes on, I am singing it word for word, and so many people do the same. “Stop stop it” is so much fun and will forever remain a masterpiece.

MONSTA X - “Jealousy”

On March 26, 2018, Starship Entertainment's hard-hitting boy group MONSTA X dropped their mini-album THE CONNECT: DEJAVU. This mini-album is so good, with each song being a banger. On that mini-album is one of their most well-known title tracks, “Jealousy.” Like many others, “Jealousy” is my favorite title track by them. This song has it all. It has a danceable beat, strong vocals, hard-hitting raps, and an overall fun vibe. From the first listen, you want to jump up and dance with the members, and trust me, I have tried. “Jealousy” is also very addictive. You'll already be singing along by the time you get to the second chorus. “Jealousy” will always go down as one of their greats and will remain a memorable masterpiece because of that.

Red Velvet - “Dumb Dumb”

On September 9, 2015, our spooky queens, Red Velvet, dropped their first full album, The Red, full of 10 straight tracks that are a joy to listen to. On that album is their iconic title track “Dumb Dumb.” This upbeat dance track is well-known amongst K-Pop fans. Once you hear this song, you can already picture the five members in their bright red dresses with member-specific colored aprons. You can see their hair tied back with a red ribbon. This bright and colorful comeback is a staple in the K-Pop scene. The excitement of the members can be felt through the screen, so much so you get excited yourself. Everything about this song is iconic. The high notes, the Michael Jackson-inspired rap, and the additive dance. This song goes down in history as a masterpiece and will forever be one.
