Throwback Thursday: TWICE Edition

On October 20, 2015, JYP Entertainment mega girl group TWICE debuted with their stellar, unforgettable, and upbeat track “Like Ooh-Aah.” The girls Jihyo, Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu all did fantastic on this track, and the choreography and vocals are something that many recreate to this day. So, let’s take it back and talk about some TWICE tracks that are just so unforgettable.
“SIGNAL” - SIGNAL - EP
On May 15, 2017, TWICE released their lively mini-album SIGNAL - EP. The album is home to their quirky release “SIGNAL.” With an alien storyline, the song matches the unique aura. The moment you hear that “Try to let you know,” you are instantly on your feet and dancing along to the synth beat. While sticking to that bubbly, cute concept that TWICE songs have, they added a mixture of electronic beats and synth instrumentals. With a danceable beat, the vocals in the song are calmer and don’t feature the belts or runs that we are used to from TWICE songs. It’s a chill song that will still have you following along to the choreography.
“What is Love?” - What is Love? - EP
On April 9, 2018, an iconic release was dropped, and it is their well-known track “What is Love?” The moment you hear that iconic ‘TWICE! What is love?” you are ready to sing and dance along with the members. Complete with high energy and cute vibes, the girls sing in a high falsetto for the majority of the song, but as the song progresses, the strong, powerful vocals we know and love are on full display. For example, during that well-known bridge, when members Jihyo and Nayeon sing that breathtaking verse, it feels like you are levitating out of your seat. The music video is adorable as well. With each scene showcasing a different love story trope or movie scene, it adds to the concept of love and makes the song even more exciting.
“Feel Special” - Feel Special
On September 23, 2019, TWICE released their spectacular album, Feel Special. This album is home to so many great hits, and one of them is the stellar title track “Feel Special.” The instrumental is lighthearted and has an upbeat tempo. Filled with sparkles, unforgettable visuals, and outfits that you wish you could copy, “Feel Special” is a special release that many love to this day. The girls perform this song with 100% energy. The choreography is striking, but still has those feminine moves that showcase the arms. One moment that stood out in the song that many love is the dance break at the end. The way they dance in a domino effect and move into lines seamlessly makes this moment in the track so magical. It’s such a great song that will forever be a classic.
