The Skyview Mall’s Earth Day Interview Reveals an EVERGLOW that’s Closer than Ever

EVERGLOW is back in New York and ahead of their concert on April 17, they participated at The Shops at Skyview Mall’s Earth Day event. Though Earth Day technically takes place on April 22, Skyview took advantage of the occasion on April 15 to create a day of events focused on art, fashion, makeup, charity and awareness. With the event, the quartet made of Sihyeon, E:U, Onda and Aisha participated in interviews with the public and with select media speaking about their group, their faves from their latest EP, New York, the environment, and more.

Q: IN HONOR OF EARTH DAY, WHAT ELEMENT OF EARTH, AIR, FIRE AND WATER REPRESENTS YOU BEST AND WHY?

E:U: Members say that I’m fire and I think that’s because I’m always full of passion. So I’ll say that I’m fire.

Sihyeon: I think I am earth. I’m grounded like the earth and I’m the type of person that is firm and can be rooted. Because I’m that kind of person, I say I’m earth.

Aisha: I think I’m water. As water flows and is absorbed into many places, I want to be the type of person who embraces everything.

Onda: I want to be air because air is everywhere and is needed everywhere and since I want to be like that, I’ll say air.

Q*: IN THE LAST FEW YEARS K-POP HAS GROWN SO MUCH, DO YOU FEEL ITS INFLUENCE?

E: To be honest, just now when we just did our event a little while ago, so many people attended, and in that space they showed us so much passion, I thought there are so many fans that love K-Pop. Since we are so thankful for their feelings, going forward we’ll be K-Pop artists that work that much harder for them. 

Q*: HOW ARE YOU ABLE TO BALANCE YOUR FRIENDSHIP AND YOUR LIFE AS A GROUP?

SH: Anyhow, I might be able to attest that we’re the group with the closest friendship (awws from the other members). First of all, we speak a lot to each other, honestly and sincerely, and if there’s something we’re not happy with, we tell each other right away, and though when we fight, we fight, we aim to resolve things right away.

Q*: THE TITLE TRACK ON YOUR LATEST EP CODE IS FULL OF CONFIDENCE. HOW ARE ABLE TO BE SO CONFIDENT?

OD: Though we each have our individuality, since we’re all members that have high levels of confidence to begin with. I think that’s why we’re able to be that way.

Q*: TOURING INVOLVES A LOT OF TIME TOGETHER. CAN YOU SHARE ANY FUNNY STORIES?

A: To be honest, we just arrived yesterday, and since we need to start [the tour], on the plane when we were having our meal, as if we were in a restaurant, we toasted “Cheers!” altogether.

Q*: LAST TIME YOU WERE IN NEW YORK WAS IN 2024. HOW DOES IT FEEL TO RETURN AND MEET YOUR FANS AGAIN?

E: To be honest, today the weather was so nice we were feeling so good and now we are here meeting our fans. We are feeling so happy.

Q*: YOU HAVE BEEN TO NEW YORK BEFORE. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MEMORY FROM YOUR PREVIOUS TRIPS TO NEW YORK?

SH: What I recall is the last time we arrived in New York, it was the day of our concert and it was raining so hard. I took a picture of the rain and thought to myself, it would be so nice to take a walk in the rain, but I wasn’t able to. But today was so nice, I was able to wake up early and take a walk.

OD: Frankly, when I arrived in New York before, the fan’s energy at our concert is what I recall the most.

A: Also for me. Whenever we have a concert with FOREVER, that energy is something I can never forget, so I want to say that my answer is the same.

E: So last time we were here, we went to Times Square, and the environment, temperature, rain, was so lovely I can’t forget it.

Q*: RECENTLY YOU RELEASED A NEW EP, CODE. THIS ALBUM ALSO MARKS A NEW CHAPTER FOR EVERGLOW WITH FOUR MEMBERS. CAN YOU SHARE SOME THOUGHTS ON THE NEW ALBUM?

SH: Starting with me, my favorite song on the album is “Can’t Be Broken." It’s a song dedicated to the fans and we were directly involved in writing the lyrics for the song. The words,“can not be broken” have a lot of meaning in it as well.

E: For me, the title song, “CODE” is my favorite. For those who know, the choreography for this song is so good also, and since it’s a song we’ve practiced so much, I have a lot of love for the song.

OD: I’ll say “Can’t Be Broken” too as it’s for our fans, so it’s really memorable and meaningful for us. So I choose “Can’t Be Broken.”

A: It’s “Can’t Be Broken” for me as well. Likely because we put so much of our gratitude into the song, I think it’ll be one that we’ll remember for a long time.

Q*: SINCE IT’S EARTH DAY, IS THERE ANY SMALL THING YOU DO TO HELP THE ENVIRONMENT?

A: For me, at home, I try to use tumblers a lot (instead of disposable cups).

OD: I also use tumblers at home, and I love to use eco-friendly bags.

E: To save on waste, I try not to use disposable straws and plastic bags.

SH: I work hard to recycle properly and to limit my use of unnecessary water.
