KARA Reunites for “WHEN I MOVE”

Roll out the red carpets because, at long last, KARA has made a long-awaited reunion to celebrate their fifteenth anniversary with their special album, MOVE AGAIN. It’s hard to believe that it’s been 15 years since KARA debuted. Time has surely gone by, but that doesn’t change that one of the biggest girl groups within the second generation of K-Pop has made a highly anticipated return to the music industry. It truly has been a year for girl groups in 2022, and with the emergence of veteran powerhouses like KARA, the girls show no signs of slowing down.

Tracklist:

  1. “Happy Hour”

  2. “WHEN I MOVE”

  3. “Shout It Out”

  4. “Oxygen”

To kick off this comeback, KARA performed their comeback stage on one of the biggest stages there is: the Mnet Asian Music Awards on November 30, performing to thousands in the crowd in Osaka.

“WHEN I MOVE” and a Loving Tribute

KARA is well-known for catchy bangers, and their latest title “WHEN I MOVE” is no different from their other hits. Taking on a more disco/retro-pop-funk feel, “WHEN I MOVE” definitely makes you want to dance and groove along. While it’s not like their fast-paced songs like “Mr.” “Lupin,” or “Mamma Mia,” this latest title track is still addictive and will get the blood flowing. There is something confident and charismatic in “WHEN I MOVE,” and it leaves listeners in awe, especially when hearing all members come together and harmonize with each other.

With KARA in their fifteenth year, their reunion is very much a celebration, which is evident in their music video. It’s as if they picked up right where they left off and certainly were not going to leave any crumbs left. “WHEN I MOVE” is glamorous and brightly colored as it shows the KARA members enjoying themselves and celebrating not only themselves as a group but also their legacy. For those who never had the chance to get to know KARA and all their previous work, on top of having stunning vocals, they also do not hesitate to show off that they are a girl group that stomps it out with their choreography.

But perhaps the cherry on top of this celebratory comeback is the tribute to late member Goo Hara by including a sixth microphone at the very end of the music video. Although subtle, it sends a big and clear reminder that KARA will always be a six member girl group. For those who are just finding KARA for the first time, I recommend checking out our Ladies Corner article that showcases the “Best of KARA” by Sofia Gomez to get more familiarized with this juggernaut of a girl group.
