fromis_9 Makes Their Long Awaited Return with Single “Supersonic”

They’re finally out of the dungeon! Fans have been waiting for over a year to hear new music from the girls of fromis_9, who last released an album last June. While this return is only a single, we’ll take what we can get after so much time has passed. The girls have slowly been returning to schedules since the announcement of the comeback, attending Weverse Con, Waterbomb Festival in Seoul, Busan, and Incheon, as well as the Ulsan Summer Festival.

“Supersonic” is a quintessential summer track, highlighting the gorgeous vocals of the members. Even as a casual listener of the group, there’s no denying the addictive quality of this track. Though it’s simply a classic pop song with a driving beat, the first chorus hooks you into the song and gets stuck in your head. This song really does a fantastic job of highlighting the group’s vocal prowess, and you can tell they have years of experience. The song is high energy from start to finish and is a great return to the K-Pop industry from them, proving they’re still as strong musically as they always have been. 

I really love the styling in this music video, as the outfits take inspiration from street style throughout. It feels like you’re taken through an entire summer adventure day and night, from a setting at night at a gas station to dancing near the water at the peak of the day. The girls have a different vibe from a lot of what they’ve done in the past, which has been more cutesy, especially around debut. This concept has a bit more of a mature feeling without being overly focused on sexy. It’s a nice blend in between, and the perfect concept to close out the summer.
