K-Pop continues to experience a resurgence of second-generation artists coming back, and Secret will be making their comeback a little differently than their peers. Last releasing music in 2014, Secret will be making a comeback this Thursday with a three-member lineup. Their EP Secret Flavor will debut new songs and a new member. Alongside original members Hyoseong and Zinger, the addition of member Yebin sets this reunion apart from those of their peers. Former members Jieun and Sunhwa will not be present. Though 23-year-old Yebin is much younger than her groupmates, who debuted in 2009, she has considerable talents of her own.

Girls on Fire

K-Pop listeners may know Yebin best from her appearance on JTBC’s vocal-based survival show Girls on Fire in 2024. Airing from April 16, 2024, to June 25, 2024, the show hoped to create a girl group where “every member is a main vocalist.” Yebin was eliminated in Episode 8, but she delivered standout performances. Highlights include her singing Taeyeon’s “Better Babe” on Episode 1 and singing Hwasa’s “LMM” as part of a group cover on Episode 8.

Solo Music

Though Yebin did not win on the show, she eventually made her solo debut. The pop single “Kill the Pain,” released on December 20, 2025, features emotionally resonant vocals. The music video’s framing of teen girls bonding together portrays how they move forward despite life’s pressures. With a title like “Kill the Pain,” intense feelings like grief and sorrow are expected, but the music video illustrates dealing with that heaviness through friendship.

On April 16, 2025, she made her first comeback with the single “Shape of Me.” This song takes a more playful approach than her debut single. Driven by bright, uplifting piano chords, "Shape of Me" champions self-acceptance. “Shape of Me” champions acceptance. In addition to her vocals, Yebin tries out some rap in this song.

Introduction into Secret

Secret revealed Yebin as their new member on June 8, 2026. Similar to her first song on Girls on Fire, she introduced herself with a Taeyeon cover: “U R.” This particular choice calls back to the moment last year, but with growth.

After showcasing her individual talents, Secret’s 2026 live practice version of “Madonna,” off their 2010 EP of the same name, gave a sense of the group’s synergy and where Yebin would fit in. Though skepticism is natural towards a sudden change like Secret’s current lineup, this video demonstrates the members have adjusted and can capture a similar chemistry as before. Secret’s special EP, Secret Flavor, drops this Thursday at 6 p.m. KST.
