EVERGLOW’s Past, Present, and Future: Moving Forward as a Four-Member Group

Formerly under Yuehua Entertainment, EVERGLOW announced on Wednesday they signed with a new company as a four-member group. E:U, Sihyeon, Onda, and Aisha joined CHXXTA COMPANY for future promotions, including “a new album” and various global fanmeetings. The group’s previous contract ended in June but the members stated they did not officially disband.
Former member Mia decided to leave the group for personal reasons, as shared by subscribers of her Fanicon community, a fan messaging app. Former member Yiren also left, stating on her Instagram channel that her individual contract with the Chinese side of Yuehua Entertainment still ties her to that company. To understand the context behind EVERGLOW’s new plans, take a look at the group’s history.
2019: ARRIVAL OF EVERGLOW & HUSH
EVERGLOW debuted with their ARRIVAL OF EVERGLOW EP on March 18, 2019. The title track “Bon Bon Chocolat” introduced EVERGLOW’s girl-crush image. Its strong choreography paired with the song’s EDM and trap instrumental created a stunning first impression. “You gonna want my everything,” EVERGLOW says here, and they were right: K-Pop fans craved more and EVERGLOW’s first comeback would mark another accomplishment.
With the release of EVERGLOW’s first single album, HUSH, discussions about the group stayed anything but quiet. Coming out that August, the title track “Adios” made an explosive statement. The choreography got grander with backup dancers, and the members showed fierce resolve. This pop-EDM fusion eventually snatched the group their first music show win.
2020: reminiscense, COVID-19, & −77.82X−78.29
EVERGLOW released their second EP, reminiscence, in February 2020. EVERGLOW added brass to the EDM genre for a commanding presence in “DUN DUN.” Its music video grew into the group’s most-watched one, currently sitting at 305 million views. EVERGLOW embarked on their first world tour that March, the month the World Health Organization declared COVID-19 as a global pandemic. Despite this, they completed most of their American concerts before eventual cancellation.
EVERGLOW returned that September with −77.82X−78.29, which took a retro spin on their formula. The title track “LA DI DA” arrived with a 1980s synthwave feeling. While still under the EDM umbrella, this comeback diversified the type of concepts delivered by EVERGLOW.
2021: Last Melody & “PROMISE”
2021 saw a further expansion of EVERGLOW’s concepts. The trap title track “FIRST,” released that May, led their single album Last Melody with an undeniable force. “FIRST” hit with nonstop pressure and hardcore choreography, making the song more akin to those released by boy groups. The members look like superheroes with the amazing visual effects in the “FIRST” music video. Despite not actually having superpowers, EVERGLOW championed world peace in August with their UNICEF collaboration song, “PROMISE.”
EVERGLOW transformed from reality-defying superheroes into futuristic pirates by December. “PIRATE” is another treasure in EVERGLOW’s discography. It sports a second-generation K-Pop EDM sound with an aggressive energy.
2023 & 2024: “Ghost Light,”ALL MY GIRLS, & ZOMBIE
By the time 2023 rolled around, EVERGLOW fans only received a digital single, “Ghost Light,” to tide them over the previous year. However, the group did not play when it came to “SLAY” in August. Off their ALL MY GIRLS single album, this title track showcases a classic “na-na-na” chorus and hip-hop instrumental. The comeback also saw EVERGLOW finally complete a world tour (with COVID-19 restrictions no longer in place), which reached America, Mexico, Europe, and Japan.
It took almost another year for their latest single album, ZOMBIE. The song of the same name strays away from usual EVERGLOW convention for a slower, vocal-centric focus. Released in June 2024, this horror-inspired hip-hop song treads completely new territory for the group. This direction felt bittersweet as Yuehua Entertainment previously announced the group’s contract would end that same month.
2025: Restructuring & Future
EVERGLOW expressed adamant views that they did not disband, and they kept that promise. In partnership with Japanese touring company 22LABEL, EVERGLOW held their 2025 Japan fanmeeting, EVER FOREVER, in August. EVERGLOW will also embark on their Asia fanmeeting tour, 4EVERGLOW, under CHXXTA COMPANY. Though Mia and Yiren left the group, the remaining members’ return to the stage indicates a positive future.
While CHXXTA COMPANY is relatively new, the agency’s consistent announcements and updates look encouraging. CHXXTA COMPANY also manages CREZL, a group of male vocalists from various Korean music genres. After all the uncertain events and hiatuses scattered across EVERGLOW’s career, a little more waiting hardly feels difficult for fans.
